NOTE: Deadline for Application is June 1, 2018 3 Alder Flats Wastewater Project Update WSP Canada Inc. has been contracted to provide engineering services for the expansion of the wastewater treatment lagoon. Clearing of the land needed for the expansion was prepared in early 2016. Geotechnical reports were completed to ensure the project will meet regulatory requirements. The Project was awarded in August of 2016 to Parkway Enterprises. Construction of the Lagoon Ex- pansion is currently underway with completion estimated to be done by the summer of 2018 for a total cost of $2.9 million. In October of 2017, Council gave direction to reallocate $625,000 of unexpended Municipal Sus- tainability Initiative Funding (MSI) funding to the internal lines portion of the Alder Flats Wastewater Project to replace the over expenditure of Building Canada Fund: Small Communities Funding that occurred due to increased costs related to the lagoon expansion. Administration has been fi naliz- ing the local improvement plans for the internal wastewater collection lines. An Open House will be scheduled so that support can be attained from the affected property owners. If approved by resi- dents, construction can begin in 2018-19. Watch website and Pipestone Flyer newspaper for notice of Open House. Should you have any questions please contact Neil Powell, Director of Public Works @ 780-361-6230 or by email @ [email protected]. South Pigeon Lake Regional Wastewater Project Update After receiving a suffi cient level of support in July 2017 from property owners to move forward with the South Pigeon Lake Regional Local Wastewater Collection Lines Project for the Village at Pigeon Lake area through the use of a local improvement, construction is nearing completion for the Vil- lage at Pigeon Lake commercial area, Heron Place Condominiums, and adjacent residential prop- erties to the Village at Pigeon Lake. This construction is in addition to the completed construction of wastewater infrastructure for the Village Lane Condominiums and Viola Beach Subdivision that was completed in October of 2017, with some properties in Viola Beach to be connected this spring. The County of Wetaskiwin is pleased to report that the completed wastewater infrastructure already in place has operated successfully with no major issues over the previous winter that had varying ex- tremes of weather conditions. Furthermore, the County of Wetaskiwin will also be moving forward in establishing local support with- in other areas of the County such as Beachside Estates, Woodwind Estates, Village Creek Estates, Crystal Keys, Westerose, and other areas through the local improvement process that has been shown to have worked successfully. Further details and plans will be announced at a later date once more information is known and residents will be informed through direct mail regarding their specifi c property. In closing, the County of Wetaskiwin is committed to providing quality wastewater services for res- idents through the completion of the South Pigeon Lake Regional Wastewater Collection System Project and thank residents for their patience and support regarding the Project and local improve- ment process associated with it.
