Hello BHI coaches, The development committee would like to share with you another coach’s development opportunity happening this Month. On Wednesday May 26, 2021, starting at 7:30 there will be a coaching clinic on “Special Teams” hosted by BHI via zoom. This session has an added bonus for you. For the coaches that sign up and attend this course you will receive 3 points towards their NCCP Certification Maintenance (CEP). We would encourage you and your staff to sign up. The clinic presenters will be: John Dean – Head Coach Soo Sault Marie Greyhounds – Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Ryan Oulahen – Head Coach North Bay Battalion- Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Justin Teakle – Head Coach Brampton Admirals- Ontario Junior Hockey League. (OJHL) At this clinic you will be able to learn more and ask questions about the following; • Powerplay o Exits from your zone o Entries into offensive zone o Set up, and different options/approaches • Penalty Kill o How to set up your box or diamond o How to rotate, switch and shift o Pressure or static approach • Specialty situations o 4 on 4 o 5 on 6 o 6 on 5 Registration information will be available shortly If you have any questions please contact Rob Beatty at [email protected] Here are the Bios of the coaches who will be presenting John Dean - Head Coach – Soo Sault Marie Greyhounds, Ontario Hockey League (OHL) • Named head coach of Soo Greyhounds in 2018 • Assistant Coach with the North Bay Battalion for three seasons (2014-2017) • Head Coach / Assistant GM of the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) 2017-2018 • Head Coach of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL’s) North York Rangers for six seasons 2009-2015 • Played with the North Bay Centennials (OHL) before a three-year professional career (2001- 02 to 2003-04) with the Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League. • earned a degree in marketing from York University while since 2010 he has owned “Players First Hockey”, a hockey development program designed for all ages and skill levels of athletes from house league to NHL players. Ryan Oulahen – Head Coach – North Bay Battalion, Ontario Hockey League (OHL) • Named Head coach of the North Bay Battalion in 2020 • Assistant Coach 2018 Canadian Men’s National U-18 hockey team -team won Gold at Hlinka tournament. • Head Coach Flint Firebirds (OHL), 2016-2018 • Assistant Coach North Bay Battalion (OHL) 2011-2016 • Assistant Coach World U-17 Challenge 2014 and 2015 • Head Coach Team Black U-17 Challenge 2017 • Played 3 seasons for Brampton Battalion (OHL) 2003-2005 • 2003 Drafted 5th round (164th overall) by Detroit Red Wing National Hockey League (NHL) • Played for Grand Rapid Griffins American Hockey League (AHL) (2005-2009) Justin Teakle – Head Coach and General Manger, Brampton Admirals, Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) Coached in the OJHL for 15 years • 9 years as a Head Coach and General Manager • Streetsville Derby’s, Cobourg Cougars, Trenton Golden Hawks, Toronto Patriots, Orangeville Flyers which in turn is Brampton Admirals • Coached Over 500 games at the Ontario Provincial Junior League • Head Instructor and coach for Pro Hockey- 2013 to Present • Current Head of player development at the Everest Academy .
