Qarabağ, who lost 1-0 to Maccabi on Matchday 1, also took the lead on Matchday 2 through Kwabwena Owusu, only to concede three times in the last ten minutes and go down 3-1 to Villarreal in their temporary home of Istanbul. Previous meetings • This is Sivasspor's first UEFA encounter against a team from Azerbaijan and Qarabağ's first against opposition from Turkey. Form guide Sivasspor • Sivasspor finished fourth in the 2019/20 Turkish Süper Lig to qualify directly for the UEFA Europa League group stage, where they are making their debut, becoming the ninth different club from Turkey to play in the competition proper. • This is only Sivasspor's third experience of European competition. UEFA Intertoto Cup participants in 2008, where they beat Grbalj and lost to Braga, they qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 2009/10 as Süper Lig runners- up but lost their third qualifying round tie to Anderlecht (0-5 a, 3-1 h) before suffering the same fate in the UEFA Europa League play-offs against Shakhtar Donetsk (0-3 h, 0-2 a). • The Turkish club have won two and lost three of their five European home games, with defeats in each of the last two. Qarabağ • Qarabağ were crowned champions of Azerbaijan for the seventh season running in 2019/20 – and eighth overall – having held an eight-point lead over second-placed Neftçi when the Premyer Liqa was abandoned in the early spring. Their sixth successive European group campaign, all under long-serving coach Gurban Gurbanov, ended, like all the others, in the autumn when they finished third in UEFA Europa League Group A behind Sevilla and APOEL. • This season, as in 2019/20, Qarabağ began their European journey in the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, but were eliminated two rounds later by Norwegian champions Molde in a penalty shoot-out after a goalless draw in Baku. They made amends by beating Legia Warszawa 3-0 away in the UEFA Europa League play-off to reach the group stage for the sixth time. They have yet to finish in the top two. • Qarabağ's record away from home in the UEFA Europa League group stage is W4 D1 L11, two of those wins having come in their last six matches – 1-0 at Vorskla Poltava in 2018/19 and 4-1 at Dudelange last season. Links and trivia • Qarabağ's Spanish midfielder Jaime Romero had a short spell on loan with Turkish club Orduspor and played in a 3- 2 Süper Lig defeat by Sivasspor, then as now coached by Rıza Çalımbay, on 30 March 2013. • Haiti international Donald Guerrier joined Qarabağ for the first time in 2017 after a single season in the Turkish top flight with Alanyaspor, scoring four goals in 24 league appearances. • Sivasspor are one of six clubs making their UEFA Europa League group stage debut in 2020/21, the others being CSKA-Sofia (Group A), Granada and Omonoia (both E), Leicester City (G) and Royal Antwerp (J). 3 Sivasspor - Qarabağ FK Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (20.55 local time) Match press kit Yeni 4 Eylül Stadyumu, Sivas Team facts Sivasspor Formed: 1967 Nickname: Yiğidolar (The Braves) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) None Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: did not take part in UEFA competition 2018/19: did not take part in UEFA competition 2017/18: did not take part in UEFA competition 2016/17: did not take part in UEFA competition 2015/16: did not take part in UEFA competition 2014/15: did not take part in UEFA competition 2013/14: did not take part in UEFA competition 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA competition 2011/12: did not take part in UEFA competition 2010/11: did not take part in UEFA competition Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 3-1: Sivasspor v Anderlecht 04/08/09, UEFA Champions League third qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win N/A • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Sivasspor v Shakhtar Donetsk 20/08/09, UEFA Europa League play-off first leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: Anderlecht v Sivasspor 28/07/09, UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win N/A • Biggest away win N/A • Heaviest home defeat 0-3: Sivasspor v Shakhtar Donetsk (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-3: Villarreal v Sivasspor 22/10/20, group stage 2-0: Shakhtar Donetsk v Sivasspor 25/08/09, play-off second leg Qarabağ FK Formed: 1951 Nickname: Atlılar (The Horsemen) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 8 (2020) Azerbaijani Cup: 6 (2017) 4 Sivasspor - Qarabağ FK Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (20.55 local time) Match press kit Yeni 4 Eylül Stadyumu, Sivas Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2018/19: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2017/18: UEFA Champions League group stage 2016/17: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2015/16: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2014/15: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) 2013/14: play-offs 2012/13: did not take part in UEFA club competition 2011/12: third qualifying round 2010/11: play-offs Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 5-0: Qarabağ v Samtredia 11/07/17, UEFA Champions League second qualifying round second leg • Biggest away win 0-4: Banga v Qarabağ 30/06/11, UEFA Europa League first qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 1-6: Qarabağ v Sporting CP 29/11/18, UEFA Europa League group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: three times, most recently v Chelsea 12/09/17, UEFA Champions League group stage UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 4-0 twice, most recently v Sileks 18/08/20, first qualifying round • Biggest away win 0-4: Banga v Qarabağ (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 1-6: Qarabağ v Sporting CP (see above) • Heaviest away defeat 5-0: Jablonec v Qarabağ 23/07/97, first qualifying round first leg 5 Sivasspor - Qarabağ FK Thursday 5 November 2020 - 18.55CET (20.55 local time) Match press kit Yeni 4 Eylül Stadyumu, Sivas Squad list Sivasspor Current season All-time UEL League UEL UEFA No. Player Nat.
