The Wood Memorial Library will once again deck its halls and throw open its doors for one of the largest Gingerbread House Festivals in all of New England. Local artisans and bakers, experts and beginners alike show off their creative talents in a vast array of candy covered houses, trains and in some cases entire villages. With holiday music playing in the background and the spicy aroma of gingerbread in the air, the library will provide the perfect holiday venue for showcasing the sugary artistic creations. “Ye Olde Gingerbread Shop” will also be open offering the opportunity to take home a bit of the magic with many holiday themed gifts and treats. This is not a formal training, but a time to connect, share and learn with other iPad enthusiasts. No experience is necessary. Featured Classes and Activities New Program Men’s Discussion Group Third Tuesday of each month. 10:00 am- 12:00 am Starts on November 18th This group will provide men with fellowship and an opportunity to discuss personal growth issues facing men today, in a welcoming, supportive and confidential setting. The group will be facilitated by Frank Vincent, a volunteer at the Glastonbury Senior Center and a retired family therapist and school guidance counselor. As a community, we can give the gift of a knitted/crocheted item to warm those in need this winter. The following are a few examples of indicators that your parent may need help: difficulty with ambulation, changes in personal hygiene, either weight gain or weight loss, change in personality, missed appointments, unopened or unpaid bills. One of the goals of this presentation is to educate and empower children of aging parents to break the silence and become involved.
