KTRE /17.05.99 FLATBUSH ANALYSIS I think my final design for my heraldry poster hasa turned out very well and I am plesed with the final outcome I have pro- duced. The things I like the most about my work is how the colours I have used can relate to the music group I was trying to base it round (Flatbush Zombies), the range of colours and different paterns I have used in my final outcome makes my peace stand out and may seem uniqe to the veiwers eyes and will stand out on what every surface it is placed on. Another thing I like about my work is how slick the final herald- ry design is and they way that it stands out and is pushed forward by the background I have used. The colours I have used in the words Flatbush Zombies are contrasting compaired to the back ground and that draws the viewers eyes to the centre of the image which is where the main viewing point is. The colours and pat- tern in the background are vibrant and gives my final outcome a personality, and could make it unique compaired to other de- signs. Pros: • The work stands out whilst on any surface or next to any prod- uct. • The bright colours used in the background gives it texture and makes the main image stand out. • Can be made to any size and would still stand out on anything. Cons: • The colours may be to much for the viewer and could hurt there eyes if looked at for too long. • If made too small it may be hard to see the detail on the final outcome. Method: I first started off by doing different drawings and trying out what sort of design idea I want to use for my text in my sketchbook. I then looked at the different sorts of heraldry sheilds just to see if I could use on in my design and mix it in with the final design. Once I had found the sheild I wanted to use in my final outcome I then proceded to try and use it in the design idea and use it as the head for the buffalo. I then began to come up with the design of what the text will look like and how im going to place it in the final outcome. Once I had designed the sheiled and put it with the text, I then began to think about the colours I want to use for the forground and the shapes and colour for the background. Once I had finished what my final heraldry logo looked like I then began to focuse on what could be in the background and if it would benifit my final peace. I started to experiment with what shape I though looks best with my final outcome and it it would draw attention away or towards my final product. Once I had descovered what shape i wanted to use, i then started and finished what colours I would have in the background then peaced it all together to see if I liked what it looked like and if I would stick with this design. Primary Research The primary research i have done was on buffalo/ bison, i went to a sanctuary that looks after and takes car of this ani- mal as they are close to extinction. I sat watching the bisson/ buffalo for an hour taking photos and recording the activites they do during there dayly lives. Also another thing I did for priamry research was I went to my local museum, Westbury Manor Museum, and looked for some research and photos of what heraldry was and what it looked like when it was used most. Primary Research • The buffalo use there long tails to swat the flys of there body. • They also roll in the mud to stop the flys from being able to reach there skin and it keeps the sun off them to. • They have short hair on there body so they can keep cool during the summer and alot of hair on there face and neck to protect them. Secondary Research Facts about Bisson: • They are able to move up to 35 mph. • A new born calf weighs in at approx 30 kg. • Lives up to 27 years. • They live in a herd with their offspring. • The European Bison is the biggest land animal in Europe. • The bison is also known as a “wiesnt” or more commonly called the buffalo. • In 1927 the number of buffalo went down to 54. • They cam grow to be over 2m tall and 3m in lenght, weigh- ing in at some 2000lbs. Secondary Research Facts and research about Flatbush Zombies: Flatbush Zombies is and American hip hop group from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 2010. the group is composed of rappers, Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erik Arc Elliott. Alot of there album cover designs were designed by David Nakay- ama. He has designed multiple covers for Marvel Comics such as: X-Men and Big Hero 6. Comparison Primary Research Pros and Cons: Pros: • May give you a better undertanding as you are doing it all yourself. • You will be able to back up what your saying with photos you got yourself too. • Alows you to get out and find things out you didnt know about things. • Can also alow you to find more things out about your favirout music group and what there origan was. Cons: • The infor you find out yourself may not be accurate. • Getting a good photo for the research may be hard, depending on what you are doing the research on. • You can’t go into alot of detail and that a some points will not benefit you. Secondary Research Pros and Cons: Pros: • Alows you to access more info on what you are researching and go into alot more detail. • The photos you can access are alot better in quality then some you may get from Primary Research. • Can find out things that you cant with primary research. • If you use a book you know that the research in it is true and accurate. Cons: • People can change what the info says depending on what website you use. • You may not get a good understanding of what the infomation is you are find- ing. The way I prefer to research out of the two is primry research, this is because it ives me a better understanding on what i am trying to research and the infomation I find out may stick in my mind longer than if I just used someone else’s research. Also it then alows me to get out and take photos myself that I can use and explain in detail what is happening in them instead of tying to guess what a secoundary image is trying to show. Final Design KTRE /17.05.99 FLATBUSH This is the final design I have decided to go for I chose this design idea because it can stand out on anything it is put on and when inlarged or made smaller it will still be visable to the eye and easy to read no matter how big it is. The shape of the background I used I think fits with the final hraldry design I created very well, the colours I used in the background gives the whole thing a bit of texture and it doesnt draw the viewers eyes away from that main focuse point of the peace. Also the white outline I put around my heradry design definatly brings the colours out on it and I think that is another reason why it stands out from the background and thats where your eye is drawn too. This booklet contains an analysis about my work and the method I used to creat my final outcome, the primary and secondary research I had done for this project with a comparison of the two and what one I prefer to use and then finally an image of my final peace and infomation about what I like about this peace and a small insite behind why I chose to use this peace out of them all.
