Job Openings for Air Traffic Controllers to Support Contract with Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility The Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility is an airport located on Merritt Island in Brevard County, Fla., near Orlando. Duties: • Issue landing and takeoff clearances to pilots • Provides ATC services in accordance with FAA Order JO7110.65 at SLF Tower • Staffs SLF Operations Center including providing pilot briefings, filing flight plans, conducting airport inspections, carrying out wildlife management duties. • Monitor and direct the movement of aircraft on the ground and in the air • Control all ground traffic at SLF airport • Manage communications by transferring control of departing flights to approach control and accepting control of arriving flights • Provide information to pilots, such as weather updates, runway closures, and other critical information • Alert airport response staff, in the event of an aircraft emergency Qualifications: • Control Tower Operator certificate • Second Class medical certificate issued under FAR part 67 within 12 months before the date application is made • 10 years’ experience in an Air Traffic Controller Role • Able to pass all background requirements Hiring for The Washington Consulting Group, Inc. air traffic controller openings is being handled via FosterThomas, Inc., a leading HR Management and Consulting firm.
