R.J. & E.J. Hemmings of Lanlivery, Bodmin topped the OTM section realising 160p/kg and £1,069 to David King of Exeter. Well-fleshed beef cows were selling especially well. A premium of 130p/kg achieved for two cows this week, a big 784kg Shorthorn x from Messrs. A.A. & D.P. Eddy of St. Erth purchased by Dawn West Devon of Hatherleigh; and a Limousin x for Mr. P.E. Phillips of Carnmenellis selling at the same mark to David Ellis of Lelant. Top value at £1,134 (128p/kg) was a grand 886kg South Devon x cow from Messrs. P.R. & T. Eustice of Crantock also bought by David Ellis. A pair of big Friesians from Messrs. D.R. & B. Badcock of Crowlas saw the biggest 890kg cow top at 118p/kg and £1,050 to Dawn West Devon. A Stabiliser bull weighing 1007kg from for Mr. & Mrs. P. An entry of suckler-bred stores from Mr. D.M. Wills of Praze saw a 2yo Simmental x steer reach £1,020. Of the younger cattle, a lovely run of Limousin yearlings from Mr. C.L. Thomas of Sithney saw his best trio hit £795. On the heifer side, a 16mo nice Devon from Mr. M. Hancock of Four Lanes led at £770 with a bunch of four younger Limousin crosses selling at £725 for Messrs. P.C. & K.M. Jenkin of Cury. 40 Steers – leading prices 2yo Simmental x to £1,020 for Mr. D.M.
