MAIN RESEARCH INTERESTS • Research into the political-theological debate, on translation and philosophy, and on the cultural transfer between Europe and the Mediterranean Basin in modern times. • English moralists - the Cambridge Neo-Platonists in particular - continental philosophy, the Remonstrants. • The diffusion of Spinoza’s works in England during the 17th century, particularly among the Cambridge Platonists, the Deists, the Latitudinarians, and among certain scientists involved in the Royal Society and the Boyle lectures. • Research into the philosophical-political thought of French Protestants during the second half of the 16th and in the 17th century. In particular, the idea of toleration and the right of resistance (XVI-XVIII). Study of aspects of the work of Pierre Bayle. • The significance of the political-religious and scientific debate which was going on in Holland during the years 1683-89 in terms of Locke’s thought. The Arminians, Unitarians and Quakers and Locke's thought. The last works of Locke. Analysis of Locke’s biblical hermeneutics. • Translation and philosophy in modern times. The dictionary of the translators: 1600-1800. • The editing and study of several works by Cardano, and of various aspects of Lombard Renaissance culture.
