"Exemplify The Teachings of Freemasonry in Your Everyday Life" This is the work which the Grand Master has placed upon our trestleboards for 1941; a plan which, if fulfilled by every Master Mason, would lead toward a solution of our most serious difficulties; a program which, if faithfully followed by civilized men everywhere, would end the social and economic ills that have plagued mankind from the beginning of history, a lofty ideal which, if consciously attempted by all people, would forever end wars and international strife and place us well on the road to Utopia. Lofty ideals, however commendable they may be, do not spring spontaneously from national or international groups; they are born and nurtured in the hearts of men, whence they grow upward and outward to exercise their bene- ficent effect on human behavior through intimate associates, small groups, and eventually through an ever-widening circle of influence. This injunction, "Exemplify the teachings of Freemasonry in your everyday life," is more than a program for Louisiana Masonry in 1941; it expresses the ideal on which the Grand Master has patterned his life; it typifies his attitude toward his fellow man, and it is devoutly to be hoped that, through the ever-widening influence of Louisiana Freemasonry, a constantly increasing number may give this aim first place on the trestleboard. Dr. Dee A. Strickland was born in Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, Louisiana, August 19th, 1902, the son of Wade Huff Strickland and Euretta Prichard Strickland.
