REPORT OF THE 2018 GENERAL ASSEMBLY The Clerk reported the deligence of Commissioners to the General Assembly. 6. ROLL OF PRESBYTERY The Roll of Presbytery elders for 2018-2019 were laid on the table (see appendix 1). The Moderator thanked the elders who were retiring from the Presbytery for their dili- gence and work during their time of service (see appendix 2). The 2018-2019 Standing Committees were laid on the table (see appendix 3). 7. REPORT OF THE 2017 CONGREGATIONAL ACCOUNTS EX- AMINATION Christine MacKenzie presented the report on behalf of the Convener who was away. The Presbytery: 1. Receive the report 2. Note the valuable work done by Congregational Treasurers and thanks them for their work. 3. Remind congregations of the need for careful scrutiny by the trustees before the accounts are signed 4. Remind congregations of the General Assembly instruction regarding stewardship. 5. Note that the Committee will notify each congregational treasurer of the result of the Report and Accounts examination 6. Instruct the Clerk to report diligence to the General Treasurer’s De- partment in the required format. 7. Review the remit of the Accounts Examination Committee 8. Thank Mrs Cazaly and the Accounts Examinations Committee for their work. 8. REPORT OF INSPECTION OF ROLLS AND RECORDS Rev Fiona Smith presented the report of the inspection of rolls and records. 9. REPORT OF THE PRESBYTERY PLANNING TASK GROUP Rev Hector Morrison reported that the Presbytery Planning Task Group concurred with the Presbytery Plan of June 2018 (see appendix 4) 10. REPORT OF THE GUILD COUNCIL Mrs Heather Beck, retiring Council President, presented the report of the Guild Council. 304 | Page INVERNESS PRESBYTERY – June 26, 2018 11. REPORT OF STANDING COMMITTEES 11.1 Business Committee Rev Fiona Smith (Convener) presented the report of the Business Committee The Presbytery: 1. Receive the report; 2. Agree and note the allocation of General Assembly re- mits to the various Presbytery committees (see appendix 5) and the arrangements for the Overture to be heard under the Barrier Act in November; 3. Note that the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland is scheduled to visit Inverness Presbytery in 2019/20 and agrees to this visit being for 5 days only; 4. Appoint Fiona Smith, Scott McRoberts, Jonathan Hum- phrey and Issy Freudenthal as an ad hoc committee of the Business Committee for the purposes of exploring the options open to the Presbytery to use its 5% discre- tionary M&M allowance for mission and report to the November Presbytery meeting; 5. Thank Norman Lindon for his service to the Presbytery as the Presbytery Treasurer and discharges him from the office; 6. Appoint with immediate effect Louise Monaghan to be the Presbytery’s Treasurer; 7. Appoint Ian Manson to be the Presbytery’s Representa- tive on the Review Team for St Columba New Charge’s 8-year review in September; 8. Thank the congregation and office bearers of Inverness East Church for their wonderful hospitality to the Pres- bytery at the Moderator’s reception; 9. Note the dates for all Presbytery meetings for 2018/19 (see ppendix 6). 4.2 Congregational Support Committee Rev David Scott (Convener) gave the report of the Congregational Support Committee The Presbytery: 1. Receive the report 2. Inverness Dalneigh & Bona 2.1. Receive the report; 305 | Page INVERNESS PRESBYTERY – June 26, 2018 2.2. Encourage the congregation, and particularly its leadership team, in the implementation of its five- year Action Plan; 2.3. Recognise the challenges faced by the congregation following the departure of theirminister and a signif- icant part of the congregation in 2015, and commit to prayerfully supporting the congregation in devel- oping its forward mission and ministry; 2.4. Encourage all congregations within Presbytery to consider how they can offer practical support to their neighbouring congregations, and in particular how they may be able to assist the congregation of Dalneigh and Bona with its plans to launch a major annual communityevent in 2019. 2.5. Commend the leadership team and office bearers of the congregation for the initiatives they are taking to revitalise the mission and ministry of Dalneigh and Bona Church, particularly during an unexpected vacancy. 3. Daviot & Dunlichity l/w Moy, Dalarossie & Tomatin 3.1 Receive the report. 3.2 Commend the office-bearers, members, and adher- ents of Daviot & Dunlichity linked with Moy, Da- larossie & Tomatin for worthily continuing a long history of worship and witness into the 21st centu- ry. 3.3 Commend the clear visionary thinking contained in the Action Plan. 3.4 Commend the congregation for their many church activities, mission outreach, and engagement with the world-wide work of the Christian church. 3.5 Note their concern regarding the future of the Charge when it comes under the Guardianship of Presbytery. 3.6 Assure all within the bounds of the Charge of the wholehearted support of the Presbytery as they continue their work and witness. 4. The Presbytery: 1. Receive the report. 2. Note the concern of the Doctrine & Worship Commit- tee, along with the Kirk Sessions of East Church and Insh- es Church, over the shortcomings in the methodology of the 2017 Theological Forum Report on Same Sex Mar- riage, as detailed in the report.
