Bakersfield to host Liga MX teams for historic match Toluca FC and Queretaro FC will face off with the “International Soccer Challenge Cup” in play on November 14th Bakersfield, Calif.- For the first time in over a decade, Bakersfield will host a historic match between two of the most popular, professional soccer clubs from Mexico. Ten-time Mexican league champions Toluca (also known as Diablos Rojos or Choriceros) will face Bakersfield’s sister city team, Gallos Blancos of Queretaro, on Saturday, November 14th at Bakersfield College Memorial Stadium. Jose Saturnino Cardozo, a top franchise scorer turned head coach, leads Toluca while Victor Manuel Vucetich is at the helm of the Queretaro “White Roosters.” This historic event is brought to “The Home of The Renegades” by Champions Soccer LLC. Toluca comes into this match in the midst of another title run, seeking the 11th star for the franchise and a championship they have been chasing since “Torneo Bicentenario 2010.” Head Coach Cardozo who holds the record for the most goals in the club’s history, counts among his ranks with Mexican National team members Antonio Rios, Carlos Esquivel, Alfredo Talavera. As well as Paraguayan National Team captain Paulo Da Silva, all of which will be on hand for this historic match between Toluca and Queretaro in Bakersfield. While Toluca is the third leading team in Mexico with 10 tittles just behind Chivas de Guadalajara (11) and Club America (12), Queretaro has been very successful in recent tournaments. Acclaimed coach Vucetich, whose coaching career spans Tecos U de G, Monterrey, Pachuca, Leon and Cruz Azul and the Mexican National Team, lead his team to the finals and took home second place at the Liga MX Clausura Tournament. Queretaro also made its way to the quarterfinal round of the 2015/2016 CONCACAF Champions League qualifying round for the FIFA Club World Cup. Queretaro’s roster includes former Toluca player and Mexican National Team World Cup player Antonio Naelson “Zinha” who previously won five Liga MX championships with Toluca, internationals Jonathan Bornstein (USA), Edgar Benitez (Paraguay), Brazilian Camilo Sanvezzo (the 2014 Apertura top scorer); former El Tri members Mario Osuna and Luis Miguel Noriega; goalkeeper Kevin Gutiérrez and midfielder Orbelín Pineda (both part of Mexico's recent U20 World Cup squad); and current Mexico National Team players, defender Yasser Corona and midfielders Mario Osuna and Jorge Corral.
