Roy Ayers Album Download Zip You Send Me

roy ayers album download zip You Send Me. With 1978's You Send Me, Roy Ayers added vocalist Carla Vaughn to his band Ubiquity. Vaughn, who is featured on several selections, never became a big name in the R&B world, but showed some promise on this LP. When she hits the high notes, Vaughn has a Deniece Williams-ish appeal -- and she proves to be an asset to Ayers when she sings lead on "I Want to Touch You Baby," the hypnotic "Can't You See Me," and a lush remake of Sam Cooke's "You Send Me." While Cooke's original 1957 version was pure doo wop, Ayers' sexy interpretation has a lot of quiet storm appeal. The gems that don't feature Benson at all include the funky "It Ain't Your Sign, It's Your Mind" and the disco-influenced "Get On Up, Get On Down," which didn't receive much radio airplay, but enjoyed its share of dance club exposure. Like other albums that Ayers recorded in the late '70s, You Send Me won't interest jazz purists but is rightly considered a classic by soul and funk enthusiasts. all that jazz. One of the greatest Roy Ayers albums of all time. The record is right in the same vein as Roy's groundbreaking He's Coming LP -- a righteous mix of soul jazz, subtle funk, and some of the cosmic wisdom that Roy was spreading among the jazz funk underground -- all wrapped up beautifully, but never in a way that's like commercial soul of the time. There's a few instrumental tracks on the album, plus some vocal ones that show that off- beat male/female style that Roy would use more famously in later tracks like "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" or his work with Ramp. Players include Harry Whitaker on electric piano, Edwin Birdsong on organ, Alphonse Mouzon on drums, Jumma Santos on congas -- and titles include a version of Nat Adderley's "Hummin", done as "Hummin In The Sun", and very much in the Ramp vein. Also features instrumental cuts "The Fuzz", which has Roy's vibes toned way up, and the cool mellow "The Painted Desert", a really offbeat slow jazz number. The group also does a great job with Edwin Birdsong's "Pretty Brown Skin", picking up the song as a really anthemic groover that gives the record a nice kick. Dusty Groove America. 1. Pretty Brown Skin 2. Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head 3. I Can't Help Myself 4. Love 5. The Fuzz 6. Hummin' 7. Can You Dig It? 8. Painted Desert 9. He Gives Us All His Love. I'm posting this album because : 1. I'm really excited that I'm going to see vibraphone player, singer, writer, producer and all-round-legend Roy Ayers perform live tomorrow night. (edit: review in comments) 2. I just helped out the guys over at Blaxploitation Jive/Pride with their Ayers discography, so wanted to alert you to the possibility of another 37 Roy Ayers links. 3. It's really good . This is a great film soundtrack that Ayers made with his Ubiquity band and special guests like Cecil Bridgewater and Dee Dee Bridgewater . Arrangements are by Ayers and his regular keyboardist Harry Whitaker (also of "Black Renaissance" fame). A true legend indeed! P.S. Of course I'll re-up Kapingbdi mate, I'll try and do it today. Peace. Roy Ayers 70s sound is good, thank you for another great post! I saw Ayers a few years ago. He was performing in a live concert version in Central Park of "Nuyorican Soul," if you remember that Little Louie Vega project. Ayers was the centerpiece of the show, and was incredible. (Also featured Jocelyn Shaw who was also great and Jody Watley who was a little meh). Have fun at the show! PS Coffy is a great album. Thanks Ish, that must have been a great show. All reports seem to indicate that he's still on top of it, so I'm very psyched up :) have a good one simon. i've seen him a few times over the years, awesome stuff. classic ost. I like this one Simon, so sweet so funky. thank you. Hey Ish, I was at that NuYorican Soul show too - that was pretty amazing. I also saw him at a free gig in Crown Heights that same year and he was great. I was less impressed with his show in Sydney last time . but maybe I should try and rustle up a last minute ticket anyway. I'm coming off seeing Stevie last night, and the Roy gig got kinda lost in the excitement. How was Stevie Yemaya ? I'd considered it, but I was kind of afraid he'd start to do 'Superstition' and then segue into something like 'I Just Called to Say I Love You" .
