Institutional and Political Collaboration 9 Collaboration Agreement with the EIB 9 Cycle of International Seminars on the Dialogue among Civilizations of the Mediterranean 9 Web-Portal MedArabNews Agreement with EIB ¾ Collaboration between UNIMED and the European Investment Bank (EIB) - May 2007: The EIB and UNIMED signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” - The Cooperation Agreement has been established within the framework of the “EIB University Networks”, a partnership system of the EIB Group with universities Agreement with EIB ¾ The agreement priorities concern: - Euro-Mediterranean regional integration - Integration and cooperation among eastern and southern Countries of the Mediterranean, partners of the EU - Particularly the aid to the 10 countries concerned to face the challenges of the economic and social modernization EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED ` The environmental protection and the sustainable development; ` The protection and the strengthening of the Euro-Mediterranean cultural heritage; ` The social policy, especially dedicated to public health and employment. EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED What we propose at EIB: ` the creation of “guidance desks” in the Universities, and for instance the realization of open days in order to favour the meeting between firms and graduated young people. ` Opening to teachers coming from private sector, enterprises, etc. ` Organization of didactic activities, for the graduated who are unemployed, in partnership with entrepreneurial organizations. EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED ` To facilitate dynamics of economic development, access to employment market and new occupational opportunities, together with the development of the private sector in the region; ` To create a friendly environment for dialogue and meeting between business community, universities and training institutions. EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED What we propose at EIB: ` Organization of workshops and seminars. ` to facilitate the growth of Research centres in the MEDA countries. ` to open the programme EIBURS to MEDA universities in cooperation with European Universities. EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED What we propose at EIB: PROPOSAL FOR THE CREATION OF AN OBSERVATORY ON TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS IN THE EURO MEDITERRANEAN AREA EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED ` General Objective ` To become a reference point for the International Community, aiming at developing the transports and logistics sector in the Countries of the Euro Mediterranean region. EIBEIB -- UNIMEDUNIMED ` Specific Objectives ` To be a mean of qualified knowledge and analysis in the relevant sector, all over the Euro Mediterranean region; ` To meet supply and demand of training and capacity building in the sector; ` To contribute to the creation of the decisional processes in the region; CollaborationCollaboration withwith thethe AllianceAlliance ofof CivilizationsCivilizations ¾ Approval by the UN High Level Group Alliance of Civilizations of UNIMED project named “Cycle of International Seminars on the Dialogue among Mediterranean Civilizations” ‐ The project foresees the participation of 14 universities of countries in the Euro-Mediterranean basin. ‐ Universities will held seminars and round-tables for students with the participation of experts on specific thematic areas.
