This Order may be cited as the Assisted Areas Order 2000 and shall come into force on 31st July 2000. Interpretation 2.—(1) In this Order— “the 1982 Act” means the Industrial Development Act 1982; “the 1993 Order” means the Assisted Areas Order 1993(b); and “the 1993 (Amendment) Order” means the Assisted Areas (Amendment) Order 1993(c). (2) In Schedule 1 hereto— (a) the references to the county of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and to the metropolitan counties of Merseyside and South Yorkshire shall be references to those areas as they existed on 21st April 1991; and (b) any reference to a local authority area in Wales shall be a reference to that area as it existed on 1st April 1999. (3) In Schedule 2 hereto— (a) any reference to a ward shall be a reference to that ward as it existed on 21st April 1991; and (b) any reference to a local authority area shall be a reference to that area as it existed on 21st April 1991. Specification 3.—(1) In this Order the specification of an area as a development area is for the purposes of the 1982 Act and section 1 of the Derelict Land Act 1982(d). (a) 1982 c. 52: a new section 1(4) was inserted by section 4 of the Co-operative Development Agency and Industrial Development Act 1984 (c. 57). (b) S.I. 1993/1877. (c) S.I. 1993/1894. (d) 1982 c. 42. 1 0 R (2) On and after 31st July 2000 the areas described in Schedules 1 and 2 hereto shall be development areas. Revocation 4. The 1993 Order and the 1993 (Amendment) Order are hereby revoked.
