If something from the instructions doesn’t appear or work the way it should, restart Minecraft. - Ensure you have a Microsoft Account and/or Xbox Live account which provides you a Gamertag (you see it in the lower left of the screen – which is not the typical location of a gamertag. It is usually above the character) - Ensure you have a Nintendo Account and the Nintendo Switch Online Option. https://www.nintendo.com/switch/online-service/ - There is a very good chance you will need to change the DNS settings of your Switch to be able to connect to the Bedrock Connect Server. Here is a video showing how to do this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zalT_oR1nPM Instructions: - Open Minecraft – you should see a screen like the one shown below - Click “Play” and then select the “Servers” tab. If you see a message saying you’re not invited or couldn’t connect, that is okay. Connection Issues: - If you have not connected to external servers before, you may need to adjust your Switch settings. Here is a walk through video of changing your Switch’s DNS settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zalT_oR1nPM - Message saying you are not allowed to do online gaming: Log into your Microsoft account and ensure you and/or your child’s account allows online gaming. You will then need to log out and back into your Microsoft account on Minecraft when completed. - Message that you are an outdated client. This means you need to update the version of your game through the Microsoft store. This usually happens automatically, but sometimes the technology hiccups and doesn’t do it. .
