The department’s goal is to assist student-athletes in pursuit of their designated course of studies and ultimately to achieve graduation. This objective is facilitated by appropriate academic advising, major selection, tutorial assistance and other life skill development and academic support services. A major goal of athletic academic services is to significantly increase the department’s graduation rate over the next five years and to continually emphasize the success of WSU’s student-athletes in the community. Part of the initiative already has been realized by the department’s annual Spring Academic Recognition Banquet that not only honors student-athletes with a 3.5 or better grade point average, but also those individuals who will graduate that term.
