This year's VBS will be at Shalom Mennonite Church on June 21 - 24, 2017. Children ages 4 through those just finishing 5th grade are invited to participate. David M, professor of history, University of York (United Kingdom), will present “The Amerikan Steppe: Influences from Russia and Ukraine on the Great Plains, 1870s-1930s,” as a “prequel” to the film America: Promised Land that includes the story of Mennonite immigrants to Kansas, scheduled to air on History (cable channel) May 29-30, 2017. Today (05/28/17) is also the final day of the special exhibit “Memory Matters: Works” by Gesine J. MENNONITE HISTORY … On Monday and Tuesday, May 29 and 30, at 8:00 pm , the History Channel will broadcast a two-part special on "America: The Promised Land," and on Tuesday a segment of the program will focus on Bernhard Warkentin, Turkey Red Wheat, and the 1870s Mennonite immigration to Kansas.
