CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT Develop and screen concepts and eliminate non-viable 2 alternatives using reasonable and measurable metrics. PROGRAMMING Further refine and evaluate selected short term and long term projects into an integrated system of improvements. It took 1.5 hrs vs. 15 mins. drive time.” “I would consider taking the bus if the buses were more frequent, times more reliable and special rates for school employees.” "Never in a million years if my life depended on it would I take the bus to work." 21 Bicycle LOS Survey Responses “US 41 IS A WAR ZONE FOR PEDSTRIANS AND BICYCLES!.... There needs to be a parallel bike / pedestrian corridor.” “As a bicyclist there are very few areas that are set up for safe traveling. ... I have to run 2014 Pedestrian Level of Service across 301 when I am crossing from Erie Road to Publix.” Access to Jobs Jobs within 30 minute walk Jobs that can be reached by transit Transit to Auto Ratio: of all jobs accessible by automobile can be reached 6% by transit 25 CMNAA Purpose Enhance the safety and comfort of multi-modal travel and access within and through the study area, improve safety with a focus on vulnerable users, and reduce travel time variability along the major arterial roadways that serve the study area. 26 CMNAA Needs 1. The Desoto Bridge is at the end of its service life and will need to be replaced. 2. LOS E or F projected on 25% of arterial and collector roadways by 2035 3. The average daily traffic across the bridges is expected to increase by 26,500 vehicles a day by 2035 4. High number of crashes along the corridor, with pedestrian and bicycle fatalities over represented when compared to total vehicular fatalities 5. Limited transit service east of US 41 27 CMNAA Needs 6. Bicycle LOS E or F on 70% of arterial and collector roadways 7. 47% of local streets lack sidewalks on both sides of the street 8. Pedestrian LOS E or F on 23% of arterial and collector roadways 9.
