(Reference – Item #4b) Shawnee Heights U.S.D. 450 Minutes of Regular Meeting June 18, 2018 The Board of Education of Shawnee Heights Unified School District No. 450, Shawnee County, Tecumseh, Kansas, met on Monday, June 18, 2018, at 7:00 P.M. in the Professional Development Center of Shawnee Heights High School. 1. Pledge of Allegiance 2. Call to Order 3. Seconded by Renae Hansen, motion carried 6-0. b) Minutes of June 4, 2018, Board Meeting Eric Deitcher moved to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2018, Board meeting as submitted. Seconded by Renae Hansen, motion carried 6-0. 5. Communications: a) Retirement Recognition The Board of Education presented an engraved brass bell for Gilbert Weidman, a classified retiree, along with a T-Bird plate and lifetime activities pass. b) JAG-KS Update Jason Robbs updated the Board of Education on the JAG program and provided statistics regarding its first year in the district. c) Comments/Concerns from Patrons None. 6. Seconded by Lauren Tice MIller, motion carried 6-0. c) Approve KASB Membership and Legal Assistance Fund Membership Eric Deitcher moved to approve the KASB Membership & Legal Assistance Fund Membership as presented. Seconded by Erica Price, motion carried 6-0. d) Approve Student Accident Insurance Renewal Lauren Tice Miller moved to approve the Student Accident Insurance and Catastrophic Insurance Renewal with Ameritas in the amount of $41,227.60. Seconded by Renae Hansen, motion carried 6-0. e) Approve Donation to Boys and Girls Club Eric Deitcher moved to approve the donation of a 65-Passenger School Bus (Unit #75) to the Boys and Girls Club. Seconded by Lauren Tice Miller, motion carried 6-0. f) Approve 2019 Agreement for School Nutrition Programs Renae Hansen moved to approve the 2019 Agreement for the School Nutrition Programs for the 2018-2019 School Year. Action Items: (cont.) g) Approve Elementary 2018-2019 Calendars/Handbooks Eric Deitcher moved to approve the 2018-2019 Calendars/Handbooks for Berryton Elementary, Shawnee Heights Elementary, Tecumseh North Elementary and Tecumseh South Elementary schools as submitted. Seconded by Lauren Tice Miller, motion carried 6-0. h) Approve Shawnee Heights High School 2018-2019 Student Handbook Renae Hansen moved to approve the Shawnee Heights High School 2018-2019 Student Handbook as amended to clarify KSHSAA Activities in the Middle School and High School. Seconded by Eric Deitcher, motion carried 6-0. i) Approve 2018-2019 Enrollment Fees Eric Deitcher moved to approve the 2018-2019 Enrollment Fees as submitted with the reduction of Technology Fees from $25 to $20.00. Seconded by Erica Price, motion carried 6-0. j) Approve Fundraising for Additional Middle School Football Coach Renae Hansen moved to approve the request from Jason Swift to begin fundraising efforts for an additional Middle School Football Coach. Seconded by Erica Price, motion carried 6-0. k) Approve Contract with Southeast KS Education Service Center (Audiology) Erica Price moved to approve the contract with Southeast Kansas Education Service Center to provide Audiology services for the 2018-2019 School Year. Seconded by Eric Deitcher, motion carried 6-0. l) Approve Contract with Southeast KS Education Service Center (Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, Orientation and Mobility Services) Eric Deitcher moved to approve the contract with Southeast Kansas Education Service Center to provide Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired, and Orientation and Mobility services for the 2018- 2019 School Year. Seconded by Rocky Busenitz, motion carried 6-0. m) Approve Agreement with Project Plus – Program FY-19 Erica Price moved to approve the Agreement with Greenbush – Southeast Kansas Education Service Center – for 13 seats at their special education alternative school – Project Plus for a total amount of $297,414.00. Seconded by Rocky Busenitz, motion carried 7-0. n) Approve Pay Application to Nelson-Fowles, LLC Eric Deitcher moved to approve the Pay Application in the amount of $27,551.98 to Nelson-Fowles, LLC, for work done thus far for the Berryton Elementary PreK Classroom Improvements. Seconded by Renae Hansen, motion carried 7-0. o) Approve Skyward Payments Eric Deitcher moved to approve the payments to Skyward totaling $96,876.50, for licensing, data transfer and technical support of various software components. Seconded by Lauren Tice Miller, motion carried 7-0. p) Approve Property Insurance Proposal Eric Deitcher moved to approve the Property Insurance Proposal from CBIZ for renewal of property/casualty insurance in the amount of $384,835.00. Seconded by Erica Price, motion carried 7-0. q) Random Drug Testing Rosa Cavazos moved to approve the Random Drug Testing proposal from Kansas Drug Testing in the amount of $49.00 per test.
