9 Silverdale and Castletown Walks Cassan Awin Rushen as Valley Chashtal Short Route (From Rushen Abbey car park) • Follow the river north (so that it’s on your right) straight passed Monks Bridge until you reach Silverdale Glen. • From here take a leisurely walk around the boating lake and open field. • Return on the same route you came. Long Route (From Silverdale Café car park) • Take the path towards Castletown (with the river on your left). • Continue past Monks Bridge, follow the lane behind Rushen Abbey and when you reach the main road cross over and turn right. • Take the footpath on your left after the bend. • Turn left at the farm. • Turn right at the old ruins. Here you will re-join the Silverburn where you follow the river until you reach Poulsom Park and Castletown. • Walk back along the route you came or catch a bus or train in Castletown back to Ballasalla and along Mill Road to join the Silverburn back to Silverdale.
