The Records of the Oregon Bird Records Committee August 2021 The Oregon Bird Records Committee (OBRC) was organized in 1978 to collect, review, and maintain records on rare birds found in Oregon. The OBRC became a Committee of the Oregon Birding Association (OBA) in 1980. The Committee The OBRC consists of 9 members and up to 5 alternates from throughout Oregon. Members and alternates are elected by their peers. Members serve staggered 3-year terms and alternates serve 1-year terms. The OBRC votes on most records electronically or at an annual meeting. The OBRC uses the taxonomy and nomenclature of the American Ornithologists’ Society 1998 Check-List (as supplemented). Record Numbering System Each record considered by the OBRC is assigned a unique record number. The first 4 digits represent the official four-letter banding code for the species; this is followed by the year in which the record was obtained; the last 2 digits represent the number of records of that species that have been received by OBRC, assigned consecutively as reports are received. Records Accepted by the OBRC are denoted with an A followed by the number of Accepted records for that species. Records Not Accepted are denoted by an N and the number of Not Accepted records for that species. Information for each record includes location where the record was obtained, the date(s), the plumage, gender or age of the bird when appropriate, and observer initials; these contributors are listed at the end of the document. The Official Oregon State List now stands at 545 species. RECORDS BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING-DUCK Dendrocygna autumnalis BBWD-1988-01 (A1) Near Grants Pass, Josephine Co, 1 bird in 1988 (photo by JvH).
