Apart from this, the project will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities to the tune of about 14 persons from the nearby villages. Also, the mine owner will conduct medical camps at regular intervals in the nearby villages and will also develop much needed infrastructure like toilets, school furniture, water tankers, etc. 2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT/BACKGROUND INFORMATION 2.1 Identification of Project and Project Proponent The proposed mining lease area is situated near Village Aniali Rana Bordi, Taluka Rananav, District Porbandar, and Gujarat. The mining lease area covering 12.27 hectares having Survey No 207/P consists of non-forest waste land. The concerned mine lease was granted in favor of M/s Tata Chemicals Ltd. (Lease document is attached as Additional Documents). The aforesaid lease area measuring 12.27 ha is for extraction of Limestone. The annual production is targeted at 175000 tonnes. The project proponent wants to expand the production from 0.014 MTPA (EC issued: Letter No J-11015/304/2012-IA.II (M) by MoEF & CC dated 27.07.2015) to 175000 tonnes. Open cast semi-mechanized mining method is proposed to be adopted to mine out the minerals. Sizing, sorting and blending will be carried out manually by raising & crushing through mechanical means. The cost of the project is Rs 75 Lakhs. This mining project falls under Category ‘A’ Project or activity 1(a) as per EIA Notifications 2006, and its subsequent amendment. 2.2 Brief Information about the Project: The proposed Aniali Rana Bordi Limestone Mining over an area of 12.27 ha is situated in Aniali Rana Bordi, Taluka Rananav, District Porbandar, and State Gujarat. The aforesaid lease area measuring 12.27 ha is for extraction of Limestone. The annual production is targeted at 175000 tonnes. The project proponent wants to expand the production from 0.014 MTPA (EC issued: 3 Letter No J-11015/304/2012-IA.II (M) by MoEF & CC dated 27.07.2015) to 175000 tonnes. The method of mining will be adopted as open cast Semi mechanized mining with jack hammer drilling. The expected life of the mine is 5 years. Water requirement for the proposed project for drinking, dust suppression and other use will be around 10.0 KLD. The mine will extract Limestone only. The production is proposed to be around 175000 tonnes per annum. Sizing, sorting and blending will be carried out by raising & crushing by mechanical means. The cost of the project is Rs.75 Lakhs. 2.3 Need for the Project and Its Importance to the Country or Region Limestone is one of the most important industrial minerals and it is used in manufacturing of cement, steel, lime & other lime based product. Limestone available in the proposed mine is of cement grade on the basis of its CaO content and few physical properties, hence mainly supplied to cement industry of the region of their use, as complete limestone of the area is suitable for chemical & cement industries. 2.4 Demands-Supply Gap The Limestone present in the area is economical because the cost of production is less than sale value. Hence mining of Limestone from the area is viable. 2.5 Imports vs. Indigenous Production M/s Tata Chemicals Limited is manufacturing Soda Ash and Cement in its work in Mithapur in Jamnagar District. The chemical grade Limestone production from the mine is proposed for the manufacture of Soda Ash Plant. Whereas the under size chemical grade Limestone and cement grade Limestone will be sent to TCL’s cement unit manufacturing. No changes are proposed in the use of mineral. Limestone produced at this mine will be sent to company’s soda ash plant after sizing and in future also the same will continue. 2.6 Export Possibility This mineral is only for captive use for plants. No export possibility. 2.7 Domestic/Export Markets Not applicable, as this mineral is only for captive use only. 2.8 Employment Generation The total manpower requirement for this mining project is 14 persons. Preference for employment will be given to locals. The project will also generate indirect employment opportunities for the locals. 3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION 3.1 Type of Project Including Interlinked and Interdependent Projects, If Any. The mine is spread over an area of 12.27 Ha. The proposed production is 175000 TPA. This is an independent mining project and there are no interlinked projects involved. 4 3.2 Location Aniali Rana Bordi Limestone Mining Project (Survey No 207 /P) is situated in Village Aniali Rana Bordi, Taluka Rananav, District Porbandar, and State Gujarat over an area of 12.27 Ha. Topo Sheet No. 41 G/13 Latitude: 21° 42' 4.5352” N Longitude: 69° 49' 31.769” E Approach: The mine lease area is around 2 km away from Aniali Rana Bordi Village in SE direction which can be accessed by kuchha road connecting Aniali Rana Bordi Public Road. The nearest Railway Station is Rananav which is about 12 km in West direction from the mining lease. Probandar is the nearest airport about 19 km in SW direction.
