P A G E 4 Contact: Pat at [email protected] G E T T O K N O W DELORES SYROTA @ T E A M F L A S C H Q & A Q: When and why did you start Curling? A: I started curling when I was 8 years old. Kids bonspiels, 4-H curling, High School Curling, then off to U of Regina Curling. I curled at the Leslie Curling Rink which had 2 sheets of natural ice. Both my parents curled so our family always went to the rink and when we were old enough we started curling in league curling. We had to be in Grade 7 and curl with adults so curled twice a week with my mom and dad. Q: What is your favourite curling story ? A: Winning the Masters Provincial in 2017 would be my favorite curling story. I was a Master a couple of years before the rest of my team so had to wait for them to hit the age bracket. I really wanted to win a Master Ladies to complete my goal of winning a provincial title in all four Ladies categories. Juniors, Ladies, Seniors, and Masters. We won the first year we competed in the Masters and went on to win the Canadian title as well so that was very special bonus. Q: What is your motivating factor to keep competing having already won so much in the sport of curling? A: The love of the game, competition and the people you meet associated with the sport of curling and visiting all the curling communities in the province that host the events. Q: What is the secret to your success? A: Not sure but I have always been fortunate to have curled with terrific teammates who are good friends and have stayed together with teammates for a long period of time. Q: Is there anyone that you would like to recognize that helped you be successful? A: I would like to thank my parents for introducing me to the game. Thanks to my mom for coaching me in High School. A special thanks to my husband Brian and family for supporting my competitive curling for over 40 years. A big thank you to the Wadena Curling Club for their continuous support over the years. Also I would like to thank the communities of Wadena, Wynyard, Foam Lake and Elfros who have supported and followed my curling for many years.
