For Release: Sept. 30, 2009 Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers Assist in Flood Relief Efforts In the wake of the recent flooding in metro Atlanta, the Hawks Foundation and Thrashers Foundation each contributed $5,000 (total of $10,000) to the Clarkdale Elementary School Flood Relief Efforts. The donated funds will be used to purchase classroom supplies needed by teachers, and other supplies such as books needed for the media center. "We were moved by the devastation of the recent flooding," said Don Waddell, Executive Vice President, Atlanta Spirit LLC and Thrashers Executive Vice President and General Manager. "Both the Hawks and the Thrashers Foundations focus their efforts on education and supporting youth, so when we saw Clarkdale Elementary School underwater we knew we had to help." In addition, the teams will be collecting school supplies at the Thrashers home opener on October 3 vs. Tampa Bay and the Hawks first pre-season game vs. New Orleans on Oct. 7. Fans who get involved with relief efforts and donate school supplies with a minimum value of $10 will receive a voucher good for two complimentary tickets for select games .
