The 2018 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues with the starred classification of its events, with three five-star events, all of which are the Major Series, nine four-star events, six three- star events, seven two-star events, and 23 one-star events, along with the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 19 will also be held. The 2018 World Tour began in September of 2017 in France and concludes in August in Germany. 2018 marks the 32nd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Four events played in 2017: France (Montpellier), China (Qinzhou), Netherlands (Aalsmeer), and Australia (Sydney), are part of the 2018 FIVB World Tour. Four events held in August-October, 2018 in Hungary (Siofok), France (Montpellier), and China (Qinzhou and Yangzhou) will be part of the 2019 FIVB World Tour. · The double-gender $300,000 FIVB Poland Four Star is the 29th men’s and the 28th women’s event on the 2018 FIVB World Tour. The FIVB returns to Poland for the 15th-straight season but just the second time in the capital city of Warsaw. For more information regarding the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, please visit fivb.com. · June 27-July 1, Warsaw, Poland, Men and Women, $300,000 – Poland has hosted 31 previous FIVB World Tour events, including seven men’s-only Open events in Stare Jablonki from 2004 through 2007 and Myslowice in 2009, 2010, and 2012, four women’s only Open events in Warsaw in 2006 and 2007 and Myslowice in 2008 and 2011, two double-gender Opens in 2008 and 2009 and six double-gender Grand Slams in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 in Stare Jablonki, and 2015 and 2016 in Olsztyn, a four-star double-gender event in Olsztyn in 2017 and the double-gender World Championships in 2013, in Stare Jablonki. Host country Poland has won just two medals on its home soil, a men’s silver in 2011 and women’s bronze in 2015. · The FIVB Poland Four Star starts June 27 and concludes July 1.
