Avelo Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service Connecting Fort Myers and Southern Connecticut

Avelo Airlines Announces New Nonstop Service Connecting Fort Myers and Southern Connecticut One-way fares start at $59 FORT MYERS, Fla., August 19, 2021 — Avelo Airlines today announced it will launch nonstop service from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) to Connecticut’s most convenient and relaxing airport – Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). Starting November 11, Avelo will become the only carrier directly connecting Fort Myers to Southern Connecticut with nonstop flights occurring two times per week. One-way fares starting at $59* can be booked at AveloAir.com. “We’re excited to bring more choice, everyday low fares and the Avelo Soul of Service to Fort Myers,” said Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy. “With nonstop flights to Connecticut’s most convenient airport, Customers from Fort Myers will now have a smoother way to visit Connecticut and experience all the region has to offer.” Avelo will operate single-class, fuel-efficient Boeing 737-700 Next Gen aircraft at HVN to provide a more comfortable, mainline jet experience than the small regional jets that historically served the airport. The 147-seat aircraft will provide Customers with a large, spacious cabin with more room and seating options. Avelo’s Customer experience commitment includes no change or cancellation fees. The airline also does not impose a call center fee for Customers who choose to book their flights by phone and Avelo does not overbook flights. "We are very pleased to welcome one of the newest airlines in the U.S. to Southwest Florida International Airport this fall. Not only is it exciting to have a new air carrier in our market, but Avelo Airlines will offer nonstop flights for the first time from Fort Myers to New Haven, Connecticut,” said Ben Siegel, CPA, C.M., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority. “We are glad to be part of the new service announcement to bring visitors to Southwest Florida and give our community an easy way to travel and enjoy Southern Connecticut.” With the addition of Fort Myers, Avelo will now serve four destinations in Florida from HVN: Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa. Best known as the home of Yale University, New Haven is the second largest city in Connecticut and is part of the New York metropolitan area. The coastal city has experienced— and continues to enjoy—a renaissance. Within an easy stroll from the New Haven Green are more than 100 distinctive restaurants, offering something for every palate, and the city abounds with theaters, museums, and shopping destinations to satisfy all interests and tastes. New Haven has a rich cultural heritage, from museums and theatres to music festivals and entertainment throughout the year, including the New Haven Jazz Festival, the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and the Wooster Square Cherry Blossom Festival that regularly bring thousands of visitors to the city. Whether you are arriving or departing, HVN offers a refreshingly smooth and simple hometown airport experience. HVN’s adjacency to multiple major highways and commuter railways make it Connecticut’s most convenient airport. Avelo became America’s first new scheduled airline in nearly 15 years when it initiated service from its first base at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) on April 28, 2021. The airline – which offers a more convenient, caring and affordable experience – currently serves nine popular destinations across the Western U.S. Fly with Confidence Avelo takes many precautions to protect Customer health at the airport and during their flight. Avelo airplanes are regularly cleaned and disinfected, and tray tables, galleys, lavatories and all other high touch surfaces are sanitized every evening with Calla 1452 (hospital-grade) disinfectant. In addition to disinfecting and cleaning daily, Avelo treats the entire airplane regularly with an advanced antimicrobial protectant that kills viruses, germs and bacteria on all surfaces. This Zoono treatment forms a colorless, odorless protective shield and is safe to human contact. The cabin air is refreshed every two to three minutes by the Boeing 737's top-down air filtration and ventilation system. The system directs air flow from the ceiling to the bottom of the seat – not front to back – and greatly reduces particle movement throughout the cabin. All Avelo airplanes operate with hospital-grade HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters that remove 99.9% of air particles, including viruses like COVID-19, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. Federal law requires everyone – including Avelo Customers and Crewmembers – wear a face mask at the airport and on the aircraft (unless eating or drinking). Avelo also encourages social distancing best practices whenever possible, and all Customers will receive a convenience package containing a hand sanitizer and bottled water on board.
