GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL (PORT DUNDAS) (CONTROLLED PARKING ZONE) ORDER 2002 (Amendment No.2) Report The Glasgow City Region City Deal is designed to unlock strategic development sites and support the delivery of an improved transport network across the Glasgow and Clyde Valley area. Glasgow City Council has secured City Deal funding to deliver five infrastructure projects of which one area is the Canal and North Gateway (CNG). The CNG project will deliver infrastructure investment in this area to deliver site remediation, servicing, new bridges, roads access and public realm improvements in Sighthill, Port Dundas, Cowlairs and Speirs Lock. A significant aim of the project is to enable a modal shift to active travel including north-south travel between Port Dundas and the city centre via Cowcaddens to help reduce car use. The proposed road and public realm enhancements on North Canal Bank, between the Craighall Road junction and the junction at Borron Street, including public realm improvements to the canal edge and creation of segregated cycle lanes and footways to the north will help achieve the project objectives and is a key connective element within the CNG project. It will also contribute towards community aspirations for the regeneration of the wider Port Dundas and Speirs Wharf areas as identified by the Port Dundas Planning Charrette held in 2015 To aid in the regeneration, Glasgow City Council propose to construct a number of “pay and display” parking bays within the existing Controlled Parking Zone. There will be 17 bays in total .
