Employment Opportunity Accountability Program Communications Intern About the FLA The Fair Labor Association (FLA) combines the efforts of industry, civil society organizations, and colleges and universities to protect workers’ rights and improve working conditions worldwide by promoting adherence to international labor standards. Position Description This position is an editing job, assisting the Accountability Program in technical copy-editing. The incumbent of this position is responsible for reviewing copies of technical documents, and may read and evaluate manuscripts and other reports. Primary Duties and Responsibilities MAJOR DUTIES: 1. Under the direction of the Quality and Transparency Program Manager, edit and format public audit reports (60%) Ensure reports are easy to understand May require research to ensure factual accuracy 2. Review updates to public audit reports (30%) Work with the Accountability Program Communications Assistant to contact companies with any questions, if needed 3. Other communication and editing tasks as needed (10%) Edit parts of reports for various projects Other duties as assigned OTHER DUTIES (10% of time): 1. Undertake missions, as required, independently or as part of a team. 2. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications KEY SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong editing and writing skills • Copyediting skills a plus • High-level communication skills, both oral and written; proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters • Strong organizational skills • Attention to detail • Team player • Sound judgment KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field Interest in labor compliance field, labor rights, human rights and/or corporate social responsibility Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite; experience with iOS preferred Experience in writing various types of reports Experience in writing for the general public a plus To Apply Please send cover letter, resume, writing sample, and salary history to [email protected].
