Old Friends Ide 1993 ch H Forty Niner – Maytide (Naskra) Ide won seven of his nine races and was only off the board one time in his life. From fall 1995 into spring 1996 the eye catching chestnut colt won stakes after stakes in Kentucky, then started on the Kentucky Derby trail at Oaklawn. He surely would have been a top 1996 Derby contender had he not been sidelined. Raced by Willmott Stables, Inc. and trained by Peter Vestal, Ide got his first taste of victory at Turfway ridden by Craig Perret (Williamstown’s connections). From that moment, all Ide ever did was win. At Keeneland he took the 1995 Fort Spring Stakes, then the Iroquois Stakes (G3) and Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G3) at Churchill Downs. In 1996 he embarked on the Kentucky Derby trail at Oaklawn with wins in the Southwest Stakes (G3) and Rebel Stakes (G3), all with regular jockey Craig Perret. An injury a few days later ended his race career with 9 starts, 7 wins, 1 third and $363,780 in earnings. Ide’s progeny include Ide Like A Double (2nd damsire Ogygian), Shezacrazygirl (damsire Proper Reality) and fourteen other black type winners. Old Friends extends grateful thanks to Clear Creek Farm, Louisiana, for enabling flashy, personable Ide’s retirement with us. If you would like a share in this horse, you may complete the form below.
