At this concert, they joined Chick Corea and the Philadelphia Orchestra led by Yannick Nézet-Séguin in an unprecedented three-pianist version of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Mr. Lando and Mr. Lang performed additional concerts as duo pianists with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Hawaii Symphony, and China NCPA Orchestra. Maxim Lando’s collaboration with Lang Lang and Chick Corea was chronicled in The New York Times. He will work with Mr. Corea again this season, in recordings for the Chick Corea Music Workshops video series. In 2018, Mr. Lando won First Prize at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, as well as Special Prizes for performances for the Candlelight Concert Society, University of Florida Performing Arts, Tri-I Noon Recitals at Rockefeller University and Vancouver Recital Society. He has performed the Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 3 with Russia’s Mariinsky Theater Orchestra in Saint Petersburg, and returns this season to perform the Tchaikovsky Concerto. He has also performed with the Russian National Orchestra, Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Kazakh State Philharmonic Orchestra and Israel Philharmonic. Mr. Lando was invited to play at the grand opening of Steinway and Sons in Beijing, has collaborated with violinists Julian Rachlin and Daniel Hope on the Rising Stars Series in Munich, and has given solo and chamber music concerts at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, Kissinger Sommer in Germany, Ravinia Festival in Chicago, Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, Samos Young Artist Festival in Greece, Dinard International Music Festival in France, Jupiter Symphony Chamber Players in New York City, and Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Chicago’s Millennium Park. Dedicated to making classical music accessible to his own generation, Maxim Lando has been featured on CNN’s Best of Quest, NPR’s “From The Top,” Russian TV-Kultura, BBC Radio 4 and WQXR. A big proponent of Sing For Hope’s mission, he served as a last-minute replacement for Lea Salonga at its 2017 Gala. Winner of the Gold Medal at the 2017 Berliner International Music Competition, Maxim Lando is an Artemisia Akademie Fellow at Yale University, an alumnus of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, and a student of Hung-Kuan Chen (YCA Alumnus) and Tema Blackstone at Juilliard Pre-College. ______________________________________ NOTE: When editing, please do not delete references to Young Concert Artists, nor special prizes.
