RESUME OF THE INSTITUTION Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education was established by Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (S.G.P.C), Amritsar through its rcsolution no. 764 datcd 29-10-2003. S.G.P.C. is a rcligious Board of Sikh which was created by an act of parliamcnt in 1925. It was established primarily to manage and administer the affairs of Gurudwaras in erstwhile state of Punjab, which also included Gurudwaras located in Pre-partition India (Before 1947). In order to spread the philosophy of Sikhism through education amongst the young generation, the S.G.P.C. decided to establish various educational institutions. In 1944, it opened Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Bombay. After partition, it established Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana (through a Trust), degree holder of which now occupy position of distinction throughout the world. In 1964, the S.G.P.C. took over the management of Mata Gujri college at Fatehgarh Sahib and after that it established/opened about 20 colleges including Guru Ram Das Medical College, Amritsar, Guru Ram Das Dental College, Amritsar, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering college, Fatehgarh Sahib and number of post graduate and undergraduate colleges apal1 from 30 odd secondary and senior secondary schools. The S.G.P.C. has been deeply concerned about meager opportunities of higher education for girls. Keeping this noble cause in view, it decided to open a college of Education at Patiala. THE COLLEGE AN]) ITS LOCATION Mata Sahib KaLirKhalsa Girls College of Education is located at Dhamo Majra, Ncar railway Crossing Phatak No.24 at Patiala. It is 5 K.m. from Patiala bus stand and railway station and about 2 km. from Khalsa College, Patiala which is a sister institution or this college. Local buses/three wheclersply from bus stand to Partap Nagar / Phatak No.24. The college is located in pollution free environment. It has an imposing structure and all other necessary instructional facilities and equipments including a well stocked library, science and computer labs; psycho and language labs, a seminar hall, apart from airy class rooms and seminar rooms. It possesses latest multimedia equipments and audio visual aids. The college has very experienced and qualified faculty dedicated to the cause of education. Plan for future development :- Under the visionary, able and experienced stewardship of S. Avtar Singh President S.G.P.C., the college is bound to find a place for itself in the fTaternity or "INSTITUTIONS OF EXCELLI:NCE " The main objective of this college would be to provide trained and dedicated teachers and excellent human beings to society. I. The institution intends to construct a girl's hostel in the near future. 2. It intends to start Elementary Teacher Training and M.Ed. Courses. 3.
