The performances feature unique theatrical pieces, along with live music by the artists who have inspired them. For site-specific productions – negotiated with venue owners and supervised logistics of staging including using and augmenting existing light/sound set-up. Oversaw front-of-house operations. Created all publicity materials and worked with media to promote productions. Undertook fundraising and grant writing to gain support for productions: grant from the Galway Arts Council for our production of Hamlet & Ophelia; Fiscal Sponsorship from Fractured Atlas for The Elephant Man and The Faithfull; smART Ventures grant from Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Academy Theatre – Meadville, PA June 2007-May 2010 Managing Director Programmed all events at the theatre, including in-house and contracted productions. Acted as Executive Producer for all in-house theatrical productions including creating show budgets, hiring directors and other production personnel, marketing and outreach. Initiated/organized educational programs, including Artist-in-Residence, in-school workshops, collaboration with local high school on mainstage production, and expanded class offerings. Negotiated and monitored contracts of outside groups renting the theatre Managed day-to-day running of the theatre – supervised staff, maintained fiscal records, contracted for building maintenance, monitored expenses, oversaw and trained agents for box office, etc. Assisted the Board of directors in the development of the short and long-range goals of the Theatre and was responsible for their coordination and administration. Town Hall Theatre/Project ’06 – Galway, Ireland March-July 2006 Assistant to the Director Carried out all admin duties associated with festival - writing/responding to correspondence, creating application forms and other publications, coordination of meetings and publicity events. Logged/filed all applications, created reports on event status, maintained projects/venues database Assisted in the creation of a festival program brochure. Liaised with artists, venue managers, community officials, business owners and others involved or interested in the festival to ensure a successful two week program of artistic events. An Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe (National Irish Language Theatre) – Galway, Ireland Aug-Sept 2005 Properties Assistant – assisted designer with making/obtaining props, set build, painting/dressing. Costume Assistant – assisted Costume Designer with obtaining/creating costumes, and for the smaller-scale shows, created the more unconventional and whimsical costumes (e.g. talking trees). Lightboard and Soundboard Operator – summer season Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theatre January 2003-August 2004 Assistant Director – Hamlet, Major Barbara, A Woman of No Importance – acted as sounding board for the director, researched questions arising in rehearsal, gave staging suggestions. Ran understudy rehearsals. Researcher Board-Staff Relations –As part of a grant to improve Board/Staff relations, I surveyed Board Members to assess their experiences, compiled the data and presented findings at the Board/Staff retreat. Studyguide Author – Hamlet, A Woman of No Importance – assisted in creation of guide that was given to schools attending student matinees- w/ activities meeting National/State educational guidelines.
