France and Norway Rejoice

Mar 05, 2016 18:22 CET France and Norway rejoice On Saturday 5 of March spectators witnessed outstanding sports performances courtesy of an invincible Martin Fourcade taking the first spot on the men’s sprint, and Norway’s new golden girl, Tiril Eckhoff, with a clear victory on the women’s sprint. Martin Fourcade from France was in a class of his own as he crossed the finish line 26 seconds ahead of the second placed athlete. Ole Einar Bjørndalen is of course also worthy of a standing ovation for his impressive second place and 41st World Championship medal. Serhiy Semenov from Ukraine clinched the third spot. New Norwegian golden girl Best of all, at least for the Norwegian fans, was however Tiril Eckhoff’s achievement in the women’s sprint competition. Eckhoff cleared all of the targets in both rounds and paved the way for her first individual World Championship gold medal. A touched Tiril Eckhoff radiated alongside the gold medal, and fans from all over the world celebrated her. Marie Dorin Habert from France took a strong second place, thus securing France’s third medal during these World Championships, while German Laura Dahlmeier captured the final medal with her bronze. The atmosphere among the spectators was incredible throughout the day, and we’re looking forward to more great sports performances in Holmenkollen in the next few days.
