Class of 85 Go Mules!!!!!! Mr. Robbie Tsue and Leilehua Band Members How as a Leilehua Grad are you giving back to our community? I’ve been fortunate enough to give back to the group that really influenced my approach on life “Leilehua High School Band”. I will forever be grateful to the late Mr. Keith Fukumoto (former band director) for the leadership skills and lifelong lessons throughout my four years at Leilehua. Band is not just about the music, as we know most will not be musicians but the multitasking, problem solving, dedication, planning, teamwork, and camaraderie are really just some of the valuable lessons learned. Both of my children are very active in band so as a parent I do my best to support all fundraisers and chaperone duties. My daughter is a senior, saxophone section leader, and band librarian. My son is also an Alumnus that returns from college during the summer to help the marching band. At times, I have tried to repair some of the 30 year old instruments for students to continue playing throughout the year. I also help design and fabricate many of the marching band props to cut costs. Students work hard at every practice learning these very complex shows and are well deserving of our support. Students are always grateful for the time and effort band boosters spend to support the program. It’s very rewarding to see my efforts appreciated by students with every “Thank You” and smile on each of their faces. Can you share one piece of advice that has helped you along the way with our current Leilehua students? Have “PRIDE” in your school, teachers, family, and most of all yourself.
