Vernon Fish and Game Club Military Rifle Club Equipment Rules Bolt Action, Battle Rifle and Assault Rifle Must be chambered for an original military service caliber appropriate to the rifle in question. A battle rifle is a semi-automatic or selective-fire rifle chambered for a full-sized cartridge such as 7.62x51mm, .30-06, 7.9x57mm, etc. An assault rifle is a semi-automatic, selective-fire or full-automatic rifle chambered for a reduced power cartridge such as 5.56x45mm, 7.62x39mm, 7.9x33mm, etc. For the purposes of this shoot, we consider an assault rifle to be a semi-automatic commercial version of the above. Any standard issue service rifle equipped with iron sights. All rifles are to be in as-issued condition The standard issue sights will not be modified in any way. The use of match sights is expressly forbidden. You may change front sight blades where possible to alter point of impact, however you must maintain the correct sight profile. An original service trigger group is a must. Triggers may be smoothed, but they must maintain their original operating characteristics; that is, if it’s a two-stage trigger to start, it must remain a two-stage trigger. You may NOT add any type of set screw to a trigger. Trigger work will be limited to what you can do with a stone. Original style wood is a must. It must be the correct style for the rifle, and will be fitted to the rifle as the originals were. Stock bedding is strictly limited to correct and/or repair cracks or other deficiencies in the wood. Minor ‘gimperizing’ will be assessed on a case by case basis. Advanced Combat Rifle Rifles will fall into this category if they have any of the following; o Any modifications to the standard issue iron sights sighting system, or; o Any optical device, or; o Any modifications not keeping with the rules for Assault Rifle, or; o Any other modifications deemed to be an advantage Rifles in this category will be allowed the use of an optical device, which should conform to size and magnification requirements for a Close Quarter Battle sight. The sight will have a maximum magnification of 4x and an overall length not to exceed eight (8) inches. Variable magnification scopes will be acceptable, provided that the magnification is set to no more than 4x. Rail systems are allowed. Basic weapon platform must be of a standard configuration, in keeping with what a standard issue rifle would have. Must be chambered for an original military service caliber, appropriate to the rifle in question. Vintage Sniper Any original, or reproduction, issue sniper rifle in service in 1955 or earlier. They must confirm to the rules as per the section on Bolt Action, Battle, etc, and the optical devices must be of original type appropriate to the rifle in question. They may be rebuilt in a manner appropriate to an arsenal rebuild. Must be chambered in the original military caliber appropriate to the rifle in question. Open Sniper Must be chambered in a military service caliber. Maximum magnification of 16x. Variable magnification scopes are permitted, but can be set no greater than 16x. Vintage Sub-Machine Gun Any original, or reproduction, issue sub-machine gun in service in 1960 or earlier (ie: Sten, Thompson, MP40). Must be chambered in a military service pistol caliber appropriate to the sub-machine gun in question. Pistols equipped with shoulder stocks (ie: Mauser C96 ‘Broomhandle, Artillery and Navy model Luger P08s, etc) will also qualify for this category. Must be in as-issued condition. Sights and stocks must be appropriate for the sub-machine gun in question. Modern Sub-Machine Gun As above, but in service in 1961 or later. Please note that a modern assault rifle with a pistol caliber conversion will not qualify for this category. Vintage Military Pistol Any original, or reproduction, issue military pistol in service in 1955 or earlier. All pistols are to be in as-issued condition. The standard issue sights will not be modified in any way. The use of match sights is expressly forbidden. You may exchange sight blades, if possible, to alter point of impact however, you must maintain the correct sight profile. An original service trigger group is a must. Triggers may be smoothed but they must maintain original operating characteristics. That is, if it is a two-stage trigger to start with, it must remain a two-stage trigger. The standard issue sights will not be modified in any way. The use of match sights is expressly forbidden. You may exchange sight blades, if possible, to alter point of impact however, you must maintain the correct sight profile. An original service trigger group is a must. Triggers may be smoothed but they must maintain original operating characteristics. That is, if it is a two-stage trigger to start with, it must remain a two-stage trigger. Other equipment Slings must be original or reproductions of the sling as would be issued to the rifle in question. Target slings will not be permitted. Any form of apparel which is designed to provide support to the shooter while in the firing position will not be permitted (ie: shooting jackets) The use of elbow and knee pads is not permitted. .
