Thank you for joining USBands at High Point Solutions Stadium at Rutgers University for this wonderful performance opportunity for your students! The following information is provided to make your participation as easy as possible. Please read it carefully so you know what to expect when you arrive at the event. We encourage you to check www.usbands.org often between now and the competition for the latest information. Band Tickets: Each band has been sent PRE-SALE tickets to sell at a discounted rate for this event, and assumes financial responsibility for each and every ticket. If you did not receive your tickets, or if you need more tickets, please contact the USBands office (610-821- 0345 x124). We hope you bring plenty of supporters to cheer on all of the performing students! When you arrive at the event, please be sure to return any unsold tickets at Registration along with payments for any required tickets. You will be responsible for full payment of any tickets not returned at Registration on the day of the event. Tickets will be available at the event for $25 at the Box Office near the spectator entrance to the stadium. Children 6 and under will be admitted free. Re-entry is permitted with ticket and hand stamp. There is a $10 parking fee for this event that will be collected by the university parking services. Spectator Parking is in the YELLOW LOT. RUTGERS ATHLETICS BAG POLICY: Fans will be able to carry the following style and approximately sized bags into all athletic venues: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and are approximately 12” x 6” x 12”, or One-gallon clear plastic storage bag or similar, and/or Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into athletic venues in addition to one of the clear plastic bag options. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the Guest Services gates designated for this purpose. Prohibited bags include: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size. Prohibited items include: alcoholic beverages, balloons, balls, bottles, cans, containers, coolers, fireworks, laser pointers, noise making devices, pets, smoking, sticks/poles, strollers, umbrellas, weapons and other items deemed dangerous and/or inappropriate. For more detail and examples visit http://www.scarletknights.com/tickets/bagpolicy.html Check-in/Registration: Please check in with the USBands Representative at Band Registration RV immediately upon arrival in the band parking area. In addition to handling invoices and tickets, you will also receive last- minute information related to the event. Restrooms: Port-o-lets are available in the parking areas when you arrive. No changing rooms are available at this venue. Band Parking: Buses and Trucks will be parked in the SCARLET LOT on the west side of the stadium at this event. See the map for the set-up. Rutgers Parking Staff will direct your vehicles upon arrival. No personal or staff cars are allowed in this lot. Warm-Up: Warm-up areas are to the north and west of the practice bubble. Warm-ups are NOT permitted on the lawn of the office of the President of Rutgers University OR on the lawn of the Welcome Center (see Site Map). This will be strictly enforced by campus police. Gate Time: Your band needs to be at the BAND ENTRANCE GATE approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. It is your responsibility to arrive at the gate at the appropriate time. It is approximately a 5-minute walk from the warm-up areas to the gate. If there are any significant changes in the event schedule, USBands representatives will contact you via cell phone with the latest information. *Safety note for front ensembles* The quickest route from the band parking lot to the stadium tunnel is a steep S-curve, paved walkway dubbed “The Hill.” If you feel this route is unsafe, please allot an adequate amount of time to travel around the stadium to the tunnel (Sutphen Road to Scarlet Knight Way to a slightly less steep path on the southeast side of the stadium). Please have a member of your staff scout each route. Field Surface: Synthetic Turf with NCAA Hash Marks sewn in and TAPED High School Hash Marks. Awards Ceremony: Drum Majors and/or Band Representatives should assemble for the Awards presentation at the band entrance gate before the last band performs for your block (see schedule). Critique: No critique will be offered at this event. The adjudicators will provide feedback about your band’s performance in the form of written adjudication sheets and digital recordings in your Dropbox folder. Adjudication sheets will be distributed during the awards ceremony. Please notify a USBands staff member if you will be unable to stay for awards. Photography: Jolesch Photography will be on site to take action and group images of your band. Group photos will be taken immediately following your performance. Band Guides will take your band to the NORTH GATE for GROUP PHOTOS. Images can also be ordered online at www.joleschenterpises.com Please pass this information on to all parents and fans of your group. Band Director DVD: One complimentary DVD of your band’s performance will be provided to your band director. This DVD will be distributed with your adjudication sheets. Audio/Video Recording without proper MEDIA credentials is strictly prohibited at USBands events. Rutgers Security will ask you to return video camera to your vehicle. Please do not attempt to bring them in the stadium. Please share this with your parents and supporters in order to avoid disrupting a band's performance. Repeat offenders may be asked to leave the premises without a refund. Souvenirs: Airgrams, Candygrams, Programs, DVDs and Band Related souvenirs will be available in the stadium during the event. Concessions: Concessions will be available in the stadium during the event. Tailgating: Tailgating will only be allowed in the Coach’s Glen area during this event. NO TAILGATING IS ALLOWED IN THE BAND PARKING AREA. Rain plan: In the event of inclement weather, all directors should report to the Band Registration Area to meet with the USBands Representatives to discuss delay, standstill performance or cancellation scenarios. Staff/Adult Access Into Stadium: You should have already received one USBands Director Badge and a specified number of USBands Staff badges for your instructors and adult chaperones/equipment handlers, etc. The number of passes assigned to you is based on the group size of the band (see Membership Guide). Only individuals with these passes will be permitted on the field during the band’s performance, and through the Band Entrance Gate. All other adults must have a ticket to enter the stadium as a spectator. Entry to the Stadium Following the Performance: Your band members are invited into the stadium to view the remainder of the event, free of charge. Entrance for band members in uniform, or in a group if out of uniform, is through the BAND RE-ENTRY GATE. While in the stadium, the band members are to sit in groups, with appropriate supervision. Please remind your students to be respectful of other audience members, as well as the bands performing on the field. Please explain these guidelines to your staff, students and supporters prior to the event. We appreciate your cooperation! Turn off at Exit 9, bear right after the tollbooths and follow signs for “Route 18 North – New Brunswick.” Stay to the left to continue on Route 18 North. Proceed along Route 18 North, crossing the Raritan River (approximately 3.7 miles). Continue on Route 18 North. Proceed up Route 18 to the Campus Rd. exit ramp on the right. Follow Campus Rd. and make the first left onto Sutphen Rd. Follow Sutphen Rd. through and the Hale Center and HighPoint Solutions Stadium will be on your left. Garden State Parkway Northbound: Turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North. After approximately 24 miles, you will pass the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike.
