The board should as well be suitable for junior coaching as for high end – Olympic – competition. The design is entered in the ISAF Windsurfing evaluation trials. • The design and construction are not dependant on a brand or producer, one goal of the development is a wide range of possible producers and brands to put the design to the market. Also juniors feel more comfortable compared to a Formula concept, the daggerboard increase the windrange on the low end, the reduced width makes jibing easier and slalom or longdistance racing is easier. BLIP – Austrian Board Project First Evaluation Event Cadiz 2003 BLIP – Austrian Board Project Philosophy to guarantee safety, especially when suddenly very strong wind comes up during racing, it is better to sail a high-volume board with a daggerboard and under-maximum size sails (less than 10 sqm). Our board is easy to integrate in the conditions of the existing sailing infrastructures and facilitates rescue operations all over the world. An olympic windsurfing-board has to meet the profile of the olympic boardsailing competition announced by ISAF and agreed by all existing windsurfing classes. The windsurf contest needs a board which can be used within the big sailing events ( WC,EC, Eurolymp-events etc), it should be both competitive and affordable with a minimum need of different rigg-sizes , fitting for both girls and boys in 5-35 knots of wind. • We think that this canBLIP only – Austrian be achievedBoard Project with a daggerboard – board like ours. First Evaluation Event Cadiz 2003 BLIP – Austrian Board Project Philosophy Sailing with a daggerboard enlarges the range of application towards Youth- and Junior-Racing. Young dinghy-sailors with good training in sailingtactics are encouraged to switch over to surf such a board. Without a daggerboard the factor of speed would increase uncontrollably which would be bad for tactics.In top-level olympic (board-)sailing speed and tactics should remain well- balanced. Sailing with a daggerboard on lakes and in bays with less wind, especially during the summertimes will still be interesting and racing always possible. Because of the generel costs of a boardsailors olympic campagne and also the support of the federations it has to be definitely guaranteed, that the races can be run at the same scheduled time and at the same wind and wave conditions as it is with boats.
