(U) President Kravchuk; I see you day on television. The G-7 meeting was covered widely. The President ; I think it went well. There is a spirit of unity. When did you arrive? (U) President Kravchuk; Two days go. We were in Brussels and I visited NATO headquarters. I ~ad good discussions with the NACC . I also addressed the World JewJ sh Congress. (U) The President: How did that g ? (U) President Kravchuk ; The ss is organized very well . The ma~n topic was the fight anti-semitism. (U) The President: Yes, the head the U.S. is Edgar Bronfman. You have a good base of people who are interested in your success. I did want to ask when you can accede to NPT. This is a priority for us. I would encourage you to move as soon as possible. (1) President Kravchuk: It is mai ly a matter of timing. The documents are ready. The parl' ament is starting to consider it. We have already ratified CFE. We have a program now for the ratification of START. As soo as the parliamentary vacation is over in September I have no do b ts that we will ratify. (~ The President: I had a fairly optimistic assessment from President Yeltsin of his visit with you. Do you share that impression? <!)
