His vision for a school based on asev wrvy coupled with excellence in education as well as care and concern for each talmidah, was fulfilled in his lifetime. May we be zocheh to continue his legacy. INTRODUCTION SAR TORAH MOKIR TORAH AMUD HATORAH TOMCHEI TORAH MACHZIK TORAH KESSER TORAH DIAMOND NEDIV LEV GOLD SILVER FULL HALF QUARTER HOME JOURNAL GALLERY THE RABBI MOSHE WEITMAN MEMORIAL AWARD Since his petirah, Torah Academy for Girls inaugurated the Rabbi Moshe Weitman Memorial Award in memory of our beloved Dean, Harav Moshe Weitman, k”z. The award was established to be presented annually to an individual or individuals who represent the commitment, dedication and loyalty to chinuch habonos that inspired and motivated Rabbi Weitman, k”z. From TAG’s earliest inception, Rabbi Weitman, k”z, strove to educate and provide his talmidos with true Torah hashkafos, middos tovos and Yiras Shamayim that were his hallmark throughout the many years that he was Dean of the school. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy reverberates within the hallowed halls of our school. We, who are carrying on his mission, are determined that his vision of TAG remains intact as we move forward to a new era in TAG’s history. Yehi Zichro Boruch INTRODUCTION SAR TORAH MOKIR TORAH AMUD HATORAH TOMCHEI TORAH MACHZIK TORAH KESSER TORAH DIAMOND NEDIV LEV GOLD SILVER FULL HALF QUARTER HOME JOURNAL GALLERY Mr. and Mrs. Zev Golombeck Guests of Honor INTRODUCTION SAR TORAH MOKIR TORAH AMUD HATORAH TOMCHEI TORAH MACHZIK TORAH KESSER TORAH DIAMOND NEDIV LEV GOLD SILVER FULL HALF QUARTER HOME JOURNAL GALLERY Mr. and Mrs. Zev Golombeck Guests of Honor Aviva & Zev Golombeck have agreed to serve as Guests of Honor for this year’s TAG dinner as a sign of their heartfelt appreciation and Hakoras Hatov for the wonderful experience they have had with their daughters and daughter in law who have attended TAG. They still remember the first time that they entered TAG, sensing the positive energy of the girls and their teachers, seeing many smiles and proper Derech Eretz, and feeling warmth that does not necessarily exist in every school. Aviva & Zev are no strangers to involvement in education. Aviva, who has an M.A. from Columbia University in Education & Psychology, has been a Special Ed/Resource Room specialist in various schools including Manhattan Day School for the past 10 years. Zev is a former Chairman of the Board of Education at Yeshiva of South Shore. They both believe very strongly in Chanoch LeNaar Al Pi Darko. They have found that approach at TAG where Chinuch is taught and exemplified by skilled classroom teaching, as well as involvement in special projects including Chesed, Y’mei Iyun, and Kiruv all directed by excellent role-models. At TAG the students get an excellent education and are well prepared for the many challenges that life can present. Numerous TAG projects include providing Besomim and spices for Hospital patients, Shabatonim, Kiruv projects and pre-school students learning about spices, whether Birchas Hare’ach, preparing for Shabbos & Yom Tov, or Yosef’s journey to Mitzrayim. Zev, who imports spices & herbs, is always ready to provide the spices requested by teachers and students. He and his brothers are the third generation in this business which was begun by their grandfather Morris J. Golombeck Z”L, and continued by their father Hyman P. Golombeck Z”L who were supporters of TAG for decades. The Golombecks are involved in many community organizations having hosted events in recent years for Gesher Foundation, Yeshiva Orchos Chaim, Project Inspire, and Meor. They are members in Congregation Tiferes Zvi, Young Israel of Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Congregation Beis Medrash of Cedarhurst, and Mesivta Ateres Yaakov. They have married children living in Baltimore, Yerushalayim & Far Rockaway and currently have two daughters in TAG-Machon Sara High School It is an honor for TAG to be paying tribute to Zev & Aviva Golombeck. Despite being relatively new to the Five Towns, having moved three years ago from Washington Heights, they immediately felt welcome both in the community at large as well as at TAG. They credit Rabbi Weitman and the administration of TAG that, despite its size is still able to retain a close connection with the parent body and facilitating their involvement even while being new to the school. The excellent staff is always available and willing to go the extra mile to make each student feel right at home in TAG, as they witnessed when Shani began TAG after the start of the new school year. Dan, originally from Chicago, is an anesthesiologist who works for Comprehensive Anesthesia, a hospital based practice in Queens. Before he went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Illinois and completing his residency
