Candidates are not limited to the number of subjects they will be registering for at this intervention program. Typical exam questions and notes are provided every Saturday. The best and most experienced teachers in each subject are used to mentor candidates to success. One of the most trustworthy gauges to determine the value of this program, is the feedback of matriculants who attended the program over the last 12 years. Learners enjoy the lessons presented and report that their marks improve. Some who got level 1 in certain subjects end of Grade 11 are now boasting with level 4’s in those subjects. Last year, results from matrics attending at Monyetla Bursary Project were 10- 12% higher than the Free State average in subjects presented. The pass rate was 93%. Each educator involved is outstanding in his or her field. It is common for matrics to spontaneously burst out in applause at the conclusion of lessons at our program. It is a token of appreciation from the learners. During the June Holidays, we present a Winter School. This year 1 200 matrics attended. We are glad this academic program has become widely known. We attract matrics from other provinces such as North West, Northern Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo. They especially appreciate the notes received at the Winter School. We spent tens of thousands of rand to print these books. Each learner receives a book per subject and most learners enrolled for 5 subjects. Every year, we award the Top 20 matrics with a cash prize of R1 000 each. The results produced by the learners who applied for the Top 20 competition in 2018, were better than ever before. On 4 August 2018, the Top 20 each received R1 000 sponsored by the Auditor General and SizweNtsalubaGobodo. In May every year, we have a team building “drumming” activity that teach learners valuable lessons while having fun. It also helps them to relax before the mid- year exams.
