The funds raised will be made available to the Race Walking Association to assist with funding the annual Nihill Shield match versus Ireland. Hopefully, finds raised through this appeal will reduce the financial contribution that young athletes (parents of) have to make towards the cost of travel and accommodation. Having broken his own indoor British 5000m record the previous weekend Tom Bosworth produced another outstanding performance to set a World Best time for 3000m of 10:30.28 bettering the time set by Andreas Erm of 10:31.42 in 2001. Lugano and Dudince Walks teams’ selections announced England Athletics looks to support developing athletes and provide international experience towards major Championships, in particular the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2020 Olympic Games. We are pleased to announce the race walk teams for the Lugano Trophy 15th Memorial Mario Albisetti 20km in Switzerland (11th Mar.), and for the 37th edition Dudinska 50km in Slovakia (24th Mar.). England Athletics have sent teams to these events for several Shearman Mark years now and many athletes have had very successful races. Erika Kelly (Coach: Steve Partington, Club: Northern (Isle of Man) AC) will also wear the England vest in Switzerland as she has been selected to represent the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Games. Cameron Corbishley (Coach: Andi Drake, Club: Medway & Maidstone) completes the 20km team. The 50km event which will be held in Dudince, Slovakia is also the official British Athletics Trial for European Championships which will take place in Berlin, Germany this August.
