Wielandiella villosa is the second known species attributable to Wielandiella and extends the taxon’s range from the Rhaetian into the Middle 1 Juras sic. Here, we describe new fossils that yield characters necessitating the emendation of Anomozamites villosus and its reassignment to Wielandiella. The plant architecture of Williamsoniaceae is unique amongst gymnosperms, not only with regard to its divaricate growth form, but also when correlated with the architectural tree models described and summarised by Hallé et al. (1978). We briefly review the plant architecture, growth habit and possible ecological strategies of Wielandiella. MATERIAL AND METHODS The studied fossils were obtained in 2007 from local far mers in the area of the Daohugou Village, Shantou Town ship, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, PR China (41°19'11" N, 119°14'07" E; Fig. 1), and acquired by Zheng Xiao ting for the Shandong Tianyu Museum of Natural History, Pin gyi, PR China.
