Basingstoke • and Deane Made under the Common Seal of BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL This 27~ 2021 The Common Seal of BASINGSTOKE AND DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL was affixed to this Direction in the presence of Authorised Signatory Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council 2 Basingstoke and Deane DESIGNATION OF CONSERVATION AREA EXTENSION TO THE EXISTING OLD BASING CONSERVATION AREA BASINGSTOKE & DEANE BOROUGH COUNCIL PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS) ACT 1990 SECTIONS 69 & 70 Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (hereinafter called "the Council") has COMPLETED A REVIEW of the OLD BASING CONSERVATION AREA pursuant to powers under Section 69(2) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990. The original designation of the OLD BASING CONSERVATION AREA was made in 1973. The review has looked at the character, the appearance and the special architectural and historic interest of the conservation area and has determined that further areas should be designated as part of the OLD BASING CONSERVATION AREA. The Council has determined that the areas described in the Schedule of this Order are of special architectural or historic interest, and that it is desirable to preserve or enhance their character or appearance. The Council has accordingly now included these areas in the OLD BASING CONSERVATION AREA. SCHEDULE The land to be included in the Old Basing Conservation Area is as follows:- (i) Part of the Pyotts Hill Entrenchment Scheduled Monument (SM) up to and including the Toll House Grade II listed building on Reading Road. This land is more particularly identified and shown hatched in black on the attached PLANA (ii) Part of the Route of the Basingstoke Canal including land along Redbridge Lane incorporating Swing Bridge Cottages and land behind St Mary's Church of England Junior School, Fraser Close, Cavalier Close, Cavalier Road, Rawdon Close, Belle Vue Road and Batchelor Drive down to Hatch Lane. This land is more particularly identified and shown hatched in green on the attached PLAN B (iii) The whole of the Old Basing Conservation Area is now as shown outlined in black and identified on PLAN C .
