Meaning of MRTA 20th Anniversary Logo th This logo represents the 20 anniversary of MRTA. Number 2 provides a sense of security of the organization for the past 20 years. Surrounding the number zero are petals or MRTA’s future mass rapid transit lines-in different colours, looking like a blossoming flower, it symbolizes the future creation of new lines. The green leaf represents energy saving mode of transportation and the organization's commitment to global warming solution. MRTA 20th Anniversary Activities Walking an Jogging for Celebration in Honor of HM the King for the Royal Cup from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn On 18 August 2012, Miss Rachanee Tripipatkul, Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors presided over the activity “20th Anniversary Walking and Jogging” for Celebration in Honor of HM the King for the Royal Cup from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to celebrate 20th anniversary of MRTA. Held at MRTA Office, The activity was participated by Mr. Yongsit Rojsrikul, MRTA Governor, MRTA executives and employees, BMCL executives, advisors, and contractors of mass rapid project. The revenue raised from the event was donated to the Fund for Development of Children and Youth in Remote Area initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Academic Seminar on “Mass Rapid Transit System and Development of the Nation” On 20 August 2012, MRTA held an academic seminar on “Mass Rapid Transit System and Development of the Nation” for the 20th Anniversary of MRTA. Mr. Yongsit Rojsrikul, MRTA Governor presided over this seminar and presented vision on “MRTA Going Forward to the 21st Year: Commitment to Creating Mass Rapid Transit System for the People.” The seminar also involved guest speakers from educational institutions, and organizations, who are experts in mass rapid transit system. “Suan Lak Song” Opening Ceremony” On 21 August 2012, Miss Rachanee Tripipatkul, Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors opened the “Suan Lak Song” park in front of the MRTA office building. The activity involved transferring 60 trees including Sak Thong, Phaya Sattaban, Chanuan Thong, and Charoensuk from Lak Song, the woud - be depot site of the Blue Line Project : Hua Lamphong - Bang Kae and Bang Sue - Tha Pra Sections under MRTA Green Construction Project. Commencement of boring machine operation for the Blue Line Project: Hua Lamphong – Bang Kae and Bang Sue – Tha Pra Sections On 24 August 2012, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over the commencement of boring machine operation for the Blue Line Project: Hua Lamphong - Bang Kae and Bang Sue - Tha Pra Sections. She was welcomed by Mr. Charuphong Ruangsuwan, Minister of Transport, Pol. Lt. Gen. Chaj Kuldilok and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Deputy Minister of Transport, Mr. Sinlapachai Charukasemrattana, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transport, executives of Ministry of Transport, Miss Rachanee Tripipatkul, Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors and Mr. Yongsit Rojsrikul, the MRTA Governor at the site near Hua Lamphong Station. MRTA Project Open House From 9 August to 12 September 2012, MRTA launched an open house of the current mass rapid transit projects construction, namely the Purple Line Project : Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section, and the Blue Line Project : Hua Lamphong - Bang Kae and Bang Sue - Tha Pra Sections so that interested students and teachers from educational institutions, government officials, and the general public along the mass rapid transit project line could come to observe the construction work. Annual Report 2012 | Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand 6 “Wonder of Mass Rapid Transit System for Bangkokians” Exhibition On 30 August 2012, Mr. Charuphong Ruangsuwan, Minister of Transport presided over the opening ceremony of “Wonder of Mass Rapid Transit System for Bangkokians” Exhibition at Rama 9 Station, jointly held by MRTA and BMCL. The Minister was welcomed by Miss Rachanee Tripipatkul, Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors, Mr. Yongsit Rojsrikul, MRTA Governor, and MRTA executives. The exhibition was held for general public to have a look around to gain inforimation on potential of mass rapid transit system, future development direction, MRTA growth and development from the beginning to the present, and into the future, as well as mass rapid transit innovations. Annual Report 2012 | Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand 7 Message from the Chairperson An effective mass rapid transit system with an extended and comprehensive network is crucial in driving forward national economic and social development. Consequently, Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has been entrusted with the implementation of six mass rapid transit Annual Rep projects, namely : - The Purple Line Project : Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section and Tao Poon - Rat Burana Section ; ort 2012 | Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand - The Blue Line Project : Hua Lamphong - Bang Kae and Bang Sue - Tha Pra Sections ; - The Green Line Project : Mo Chit - Sapan Mai - Khu Khot Section and Bearing - Samut Prakarn Section ; - The Pink Line Project : Khae Rai - Min Buri Section ; - The Orange Line Project : Taling Chan - Min Buri Section ; - The Yellow Line Project : Lad Prao - Samrong Section ; These projects are in line with the government’s policy for MRTA to promptly execute contracts for the construction of all the assigned lines within the term of this government, including the policy of Baht 20 flat fee. MRTA has been tasked to conduct a feasibility study to collect fares at the rate of Baht 20 upon completion of the Purple Line: Bang Yai - Bang 10 Sue Section as the pilot case. This will lead to a mass rapid transit network which runs throughout Bangkok and adjacent provinces. According to the MRTA’s operating results for the fiscal year 2012, projects progressed as planned, with 50.14% completion rate for the Purple Line, whose construction began in 2009. Construction for the Blue Line Extension which started in April 2011 achieved 23.61% completion. As for the Green Line: Bearing - Samut Prakarn Section, which started in March 2012, the completion rate is 1.73%. Other projects on the whole have been progressing as planned. (Ms. Rachanee Tripipatkul) As Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors, I wish Chairperson of the MRTA Board of Directors to thank all the executives and employees as well as relevant agencies who have consistently supported the operation of MRTA. Our goal is to provide the public with safe and convenient service as well as alleviate traffic congestion within and around Bangkok, thereby generating the greatest benefits for the people and enabling our country to develop in a sustainable manner. Message from the Governor With a vision to be the “core organization in providing effective and comprehensive mass rapid transit service to raise the quality of life of the people,” all through 2012, it was the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA)’s mission to expedite the implementation and concrete progress of mass rapid transit projects as chartered by the government. Annual Report 2012 | Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand In the fiscal year 2012, MRTA was able to make significant progress of mass transit projects, including the construction of Purple Line: Bang Yai - Bang Sue Section, which has progressed by over 50%, Blue Line: Hua Lamphong - Bang Kae Section and Bang Sue - Tha Phra Section at 23%, and Green Line: Bearing - Samut Prakarn Section, of which the construction started in early 2012. MRTA has also prepared designs and project feasibility study for Pink Line: Khae Rai - Min Buri Section, Orange Line: Taling Chan - Min Buri Section, and Green Line: Mo Chit - Sa Pan Mai - Khu Khot Section. Nevertheless, MRTA still has key mission to expedite the construction of several more lines of mass transit, i,e., Pink Line: Khae Rai - Min Buri Section, Green Line: Mo Chit - Sa Pan Mai - Khu Khot Section, and Orange Line: Taling Chan - Min Buri Section as well as Purple Line: Tao Poon - Rat Burana Section 11 and Yellow Line: Lad Prao - Samrong Section. 2012 was important year as it was the 20th anniversary of MRTA. The Excellent State Enterprise Award of the year 2012 for excellent organization development in human resources development granted to MRTA is a guarantee that MRTA has strictly and consistently adhered to the high working standard and good governance and indicates the commitment of our executives and all employees who perform their duties to their best capacity, with the public interest as the priority.
