He served in the War with Mexico and in the Civil War in the Confederate States Army. William Gibbs McAdoo, Jr. (1863-1941) was his son by his second wife, Mary Faith Floyd of Camden County, Georgia. He was a lawyer and became Secretary of the Treasury under President Woodrow Wilson. He married President Wilson's daughter, Eleanor Randolph Axson Wilson. Scope and Content Note This collection consists of a biographical sketch of William Gibbs McAdoo, Sr. and his son, William Gibbs McAdoo, Jr. It was written by one of McAdoo, Jr.'s sisters, and it is unsigned.
