CABO is a statewide federation which began in 1972 to protect bicyclists’ interests and to encourage, maintain and improve bicycling conditions. CABO has been instrumental in the initial writing of the design standards originally titled “Planning and Design Criteria for Bicycles in California” as well as continuing to represent the needs and interests of bicyclists before the appropriate government bodies. Wilson Trail is the original trail created in 1864 by Benjamin Wilson, and it is one of the premier attractions in the San Gabriel Mountains. We started at the trailhead in Sierra Madre and hiked up Little Santa Anita Canyon to the intersection with the Winter Creek Trail. We went two-thirds of the way up to the summit of Mt. Wilson to Manzanita Ridge, for a round- trip distance of 10.5 miles and elevation gain of about 3400 feet.
