Korean Federation for Environmental Friends of the Earth Korea Movement since 1982 KFEM Renewable Energy and Climate Change Gathering momentum from the Fukushima disaster on 11th March in 2011, KFEM is giving an impetus to an anti-nuclear movement. We aim to establish energy justice by expanding renewable energy and its access by citizen. Water and Rivers KFEM keeps rivers clean from pollution for both humans and the environment. Sustainable management of water is KFEM indispensable for the supply of clean water and the biodiversity conservation of riverine ecosystems. We are keeping a close eye on water policy. KFEM Conservation of Land, Ocean, Wetlands and the DMZ Our nature has been threatened by reckless development for rapid economic growth. KFEM has carried out various actions to preserve an ecosystem and to protect ecological reserves for endangered species. KFEM Environmental Health and Safety KFEM ensures the safety of food and our environment to prevent disease caused by a harmful substance. We are against GMO, asbestos and radioactive material, which is accompanied with investigations. International Solidarity KFEM is concerned to share our value with the civil society in the world. We have been internationally collaborating with the full membership of Friends of the Earth since 2003 and special consultative status accredited by UN ECOSOC since 1998. KFEM Policy Planning KFEM plays an active role in moni-toring, amending and shaping our environmental policy. Based on the 51 local branches, we are working together with experts and members to show our vision to the public. KFEM KFEM is the largest environmental NGO in South Korea with approximately 80,000 individual members, 51 local offices and 5 affiliated organizations.
