1 Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati’s DHANWATE NATIONAL COLLEGE, NAGPUR Department of Physical Education & Sports Annual Reports 2014-15 It’s my great pleasure to present the Annual Report of the Department of Physical Education and Sports on behalf of our college. For last several years we have been forming the body of Students’ Sports Council along with Sports Council for smooth working. The Sports Council was constituted under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Principal Dr. B. B. Taywade and Dr. M. S. Wankhede as the Secretary. The other members of the council were Mr. N. V. Chopde, Dr. V.Y Waghale, Dr. P. P. Sonone, Dr. P. D. Hadke, Mr. R. N. Gosavi, Dr. Parag Joshi, Mr. S. S. Gaherwar, Dr. D. N. Khadse, Mr. R. S. Motghare, Mr. D. R. Pathak, Dr. M. R. Tambulkar, Mr. S.M. Shambarkar, Dr. N. H. Kandalkar, Mr. J .V. Jichkar, Mr. A.M. Zanzal, Mr. K. S. Lend, Mr. V. T. Choure, and Mr. S. S. Dadhe. The meetings were held on August 27, 2014, January 2, 2015 & April 9, 2015 to discuss various matters related to the Sports activities during the academic session 2014-15 for smooth functioning. ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED / ORGANISED: a) Summer Coaching Camp: Every year we organize the summer coaching camp of different games for the school & college students to create among them awareness of sports developing the skill & advance knowledge of games. This year the coaching camp was held between April 15 to May 15, 2014 & was inaugurated by Dr. Sukhadev Biswas, Secretary Maharashtra Sepak-takrao and Dr. Bhelkar was present on the occasion. Prof. Devendra Wankhade conducted the programme & Mr. Subhash Dadhe proposed a vote of thanks. The expert coaches gave the advance coaching to the students. Football coaching was given under Mr. Ramesh Mandal, and Prof. Jayant Jichkar, Yoga under Ms. Megha Shitoot & Prof. Devendra Wankhade, Softball & Sepak-takrao under Mr. Subhash Dadhe, Mr. Chetan Mahadik, Amar Khandare & Mr. Pamir Shahare. 75 students from various Schools & Colleges participated & got benefited from this camp. Camp was concluded on 15th May 2014. All the participants were given certificates and also provided with facilities during the camp period. b) Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahotsava 2014: Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahotsava 2014 was organized between September 19-21, 2014, for the 15th year consecutively, in which Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cross-country (Men & Women), Football, Basketball & Cricket (Men) were included. (See a special report) c) Seminar on Rashtriya Krida Din: - Our Department and ACSC Koradi jointly organized on October 5, 2014 a seminar on Rashtriya Krida Din. On this occasion Dr. Sharayu Taywade was the chairman while Mr. Vijay Sanatan, DSO, Nagpur was the chief guest. On this occasion Dr. Taywade, Mr. Santan, Dr. D. M. Velular, Dr. V. B.Datarkar, Mr. S. T. Bhotmange, Mr. Vijay Munishwar and Our Department and ACSC Koradi jointly organized a seminar on Rashtriya Krida Din. Dr. Rajesh Joshi guided the students. d) Panjabrao Deshmukh Premier league cricket 2015:- PDIMTR organized Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Premier League cricket on 14-18 February 2015 and we supported the activity whole heartedly by giving the ground and technical support. 2 e) NBA Jam 3 Basketball Tournament: Our Department and NBA Jam 3 jointly organized Basketball Tournament on October 27- 28, 2014. The Jam 3 for the first time organized basketball tournament in our college. It was inaugurated by our principal Dr. B. B. Taywade. Many teams participated in this tournament and enjoyed it Our Department and NBA Jam 3 jointly organized Basketball Tournament Din. enthusiastically. f) Addiction free Youth – A class room seminar was organised to guide students to be addiction free on January 13, 2015. Mr. Vijay Shende & Dr. Yogesh Kite guided the students on this occasion to lead addiction free life and be happy. Dr R. D. Bhelkar chaired the seminar. Many students & staff members were present and actively participated in the question – answer session. organized Addiction free Youth class room seminar g) CONDUCTED R.T.M. NAGPUR UNIVERSITY INTER-COLLEGIATE SOFTBALL (Women): R.T.M. Nagpur University intercollegiate Softball Tournament was conducted on February 14- 15, 2015 at college Ground & 14 teams of various colleges participated in it. It was inaugurated by Dr. D. K. Burghate. Prize distribution was conducted at the hands of the principal Dr. B. B. Taywade. The first Inuguration & prize distrbution of R.T.M. Nagpur University place was bagged by Shivaji Science College Inter-Collegiate Softball (Women) Tournament and the runner up was A. G. College, Nagpur. i) CONDUCTED DISTRICT SPORTS OFFICE TOURNAMENT - Dodge-ball Tournament: Nagpur District level DSO Dodge-ball U/19 tournament was conducted on August 21 to 22, 2014. Tournament was inaugurated by Prin. B. B. Taywade, President Nagpur District Dodge- Ball Association & other staff members were present. Total 30 Boys & Girls teams of various Schools from Nagpur District participated in it. Basketball Tournament: Nagpur District level DSO Dodge-ball U/19 tournament was conducted September 04 to-09, 2014. Total 30 Boys & Girls teams of various Schools from Nagpur District participated in it. Winner team in DSO basket-ball U/19) Tournament Softball Tournament: Nagpur District level DSO Dodge-ball U/19 tournament was conducted on September2-3, 2014. Total 30 Boys & Girls teams of various Schools from Nagpur District participated in it. Netball Tournament: Nagpur District level DSO Dodge-ball U/19 tournament was conducted September6- 7, 2014. Total 30 Boys & Girls teams of various Schools from Nagpur District participated in it. 3 j) Annual Sports Meet: On the 117th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, the founder of Shri. Shivaji Education Society, Amravati, our department organized the Inter-class Volleyball, Cricket, Tag of war, Yogasana and Athletics (100 mtr. Running, Long Jump, & Shot-put) competitions on January 05-06, 2015. Prize distribution took place on January 7. Adv. Arunbhau Shlke, President Shri Shivaji Shikshan Sanstha, Nagpur and Mr. Mahadeorao Bhuibhar, Vice-president were the Chairman and chief guest Students performing Tag of war event in Annual Sports meet respectively on this occasion. n) Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test: As per University Ordinance every year our Department conducts the Medical Examination & Physical Efficiency Test for the college Students (under graduate). The medical examination was held on January 19 -24, 2015 under medical officer Dr. Avinash Gawande, Dr. Anil Chiwhane & Dr. Darshana Deshmukh. Physical efficiency test took place between Jan. 19 to 29, 2015. For these activities externals were Prof. Megha Shitoot, Prof. R. Y. Deshmukh. This year the same activity took place. The statistical reports of this test were submitted to the R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur on 31st Jan.2015. FACILITIES PROVIDED: We provide following facilities to students, staff and local people: a) Modern Fitness Centre: For college students & Sports Persons, college renovated the gymnasium and Modern Fitness Centre. In this Centre new advance fitness equipment like motorize trade mile, electronic cycle, massager & other fitness equipment’s are available. Monthly 125 students are benefited by the Gym in average. Monthly income is about Rs/ 35000/- CollegeModern Fitness Centre b) Ground Facilities: Basketball Court with Flood Light, Football, and Cricket ground with Turf Wicket (Vasant Nagar), Volleyball, Korfball, Netball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho grounds & Table Tennis & Yogasana Hall etc. c) Coaching & training : Gymnastics – We train students and other members of the society throughout the year. Mr. Sanket & Mr. Mayuresh National players coach the beneficiaries. Gymnastics & Basket ball Coaching Camp 4 Softball, Basketball, Football & Sepak-takraw Coaching – We give training of Softball, Football & Sepak-takraw to those who are interested in these games. We invite reputed coaches of respective games to train ours students. This year we invited Mr. Chetan Mahadik, Mr. Jayant Jichakar, Mr. Ramesh Mandal, Dr. Sukdeo Biswas. Football Coaching Camp: d) We provide training for various games equipment’s for the various games, Uniforms & Shoes, concession for outstation tournament, refreshment and daily allowances during tournaments etc. University Blazer: College sheared Rs. 636/- as the cost of blazer for per player who is selected for the first time in any game in the University team . PARTICIPATION: College teams participated in University and other intercollegiate tournaments: a) Nagpur University Intercollegiate tournament: Total 29 Men & 15 Women College teams participated in University tournament i.e. Athletics, Ball-Badminton, Cross-Country, Half Marathon, Handball, Netball, Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Yogasana, Judo, Wrestling (Men and Women) Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Rifle Shooting, Power-Lifting and Swimming in Men section. b) Other Tournament: Our college teams participated in Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krida Mahotsava 2013- Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cross-Country (Men & Women), Basketball, Football, and Cricket (Men). Krik-Mania Cricket-2014-15, VCA Cricket tournament, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar College of Law Inter-collegiate Cricket Tournament, PDCPL etc. c) World Diabetes Day - On 14th Nov. 2014, our players participated in Rally of Hello Diabetes Awareness Rally on the occasion of World Diabetes Day organised by Diabetes Care foundation of India. ACHIEVEMENTS: We put efforts to train our players at least one month
