2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Friday, August 9, 2019 - 7:05 p.m. The Diamond -- Richmond, VA Bowie Baysox (61-53, 31-15) @ Richmond Flying Squirrels (42-72, 19-28) RHP Tyler Herb (1-2, 5.84 ERA) vs. RHP Brandon Lawson (5-6, 3.74 ERA) Games #115 // Road Game #56 2019 SEASON In Case You Missed It: The Baysox lost both the resumption of Wednesday's suspended game and the Overall Record 61-53, 31-15 scheduled contest on Thursday in Trenton. Bowie did not score a run in 11 innings of offense on Thursday. The Home Record 33-26 Baysox were ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when the suspended game resumed, but allowed a Road Record 28-27 two-run home run in the sixth to fall behind 3-2. The Thunder were able to hold that lead through the end of the Versus Eastern Division 23-17 ballgame. In game two of the day, the Bowie bats never got going, and Trenton took it 4-0. Versus Western Division 38-36 Current Streak L2 Baysox Starter: RHP Tyler Herb will make the start for the Baysox today. It will be Herb's sixth start of the Last Homestand 3-3 season with Bowie and third since returning from Triple-A Norfolk. In his last start, Herb had his best outing of Current Road Trip 1-2 the season, pitching 6.0 shutout innings and yielding just one hit against Portland. Prior to that, Herb allowed just two hits in 6.0 innings in a win against Binghamton. The 27-year-old has made 16 appearances with Norfolk Last 5 Games 2-3 in 2019 and posted a 7.16 ERA in 76.2 innings. Herb is making his second start of the season against Richmond, Last 10 Games 5-5 after he made his season debut against the Flying Squirrels on April 9. In 2-Run Games 14-10 Lawson pitched very well in his last start against Harrisburg, earning the win after allowing just one run in 6.0 innings. Outside of a tough outing against Portland on July 30 where he allowed five earned runs, Lawson has vs. Left-Handed Starters 15-16 been solid of late, yielding two earned runs or less in four of his last five starts. Lawson is in his first season in vs. Right-Handed Starters 46-37 the Giants organization after being signed to a minor league contract in April. The 24-year-old was released Day Games 15-18 by Tampa Bay in March after spending the first three years of his professional career in the Rays' organization. Night Games 46-35 Lawson was selected by Tampa Bay in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of the University of South Ahead After 7 Innings 47-3 Florida. Behind After 7 Innings 5-39 Tied After 7 Innings 8-11 Baumann Named Pitcher of the Month: RHP Mike Baumann has been named the Orioles' Minor League Pitcher of the Month for July. For the month, Baumann was 2-1 in five starts with a 1.38 ERA. The 23-year-old Ahead After 8 Innings 49-1 pitched 32.2 innings during those five starts and held opponents to a .148 batting average against. Baumann Behind After 8 Innings 3-38 also struck out 31 batters and only walked six during July. On July 16, Baumann pitched a no-hitter against Tied After 8 Innings 6-9 Harrisburg, striking out ten in a dominant effort. It was just the third nine-inning no-hitter in Baysox history. Bowie went 20-7 in June, the best record in any month in team history, then followed that with a 20-8 month of July. On the mound, Baysox starters combined to go 15-2 with a 2.17 ERA in 169.2 innings. After playing 18 games against each other in April and May, the Baysox and 5/1 vs. Richmond L, 7-3 SeaWolves do not play each other again this season. 5/10 vs. Richmond W, 8-5 5/11 vs. Richmond W, 3-0 Baysox and Squirrels: Tonight's series opener between Bowie and Richmond will begin a stretch of eight 7/22 at Richmond W, 5-0 (7) games in seven days where the teams will play against each other. The Baysox and Flying Squirrels will play four 7/22 at Richmond W, 2-0 (7) games in three days in Richmond this weekend, and after an off day Monday battle each other four more times 7/24 at Richmond W, 8-1 in three days in Bowie next week.
