Useful web links are also provided. UCL Department of Geography provides a very helpful interactive map of UCL and its surroundings, displayed at the end of this document. In the following text, references to this map will be used (e.g. UCL main gates: C3). Travelling in London can turn out to be quite expensive, especially if you intend to stay a little more than two days in London. Buying an Oyster card might be a good way to save some money. It only costs £5, and whatever the amount you want to top up at the beginning, and is quickly recovered. Then, you will just have to charge it whenever you need to. You can purchase an Osyter card at any airports and stations, or on the Transport For London website. From Heathrow Airport to UCL From Heathrow Airport, take the Heathrow Express from Heathrow Central station (Terminals 1-2-3) to London Paddington station. Use the airport train to connect from Terminals 4 or 5. Once in London Paddington station, use either the Circle or Hammersmith City underground lines to reach Euston Square station (C1). Head to the South exit, and take Gower St. towards South, walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). A cheaper way to connect to UCL from Heathrow Airport is to take the Piccadilly underground line from Heathrow Central station, up to Green Park station, and then commute to the Victoria line up to Warren Street station ( A1). Then, take the Tottenham Court Road exit, and make it towards East on Euston Road. Once you passed by UCL Hospital (B1), turn right in Gower St, walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). It takes from 40 to 60 minutes to get to UCL from Heathrow Airport. Airport website Interactive route via Heathrow Express (Google Maps) Interactive route via underground (Google Maps) From Gatwick Airport to UCL From Gatwick Airport, take the train to Bedford, and stop at London Farringdon station. In the airport, the railway station is located in the South Terminal, that you can reach from the North Terminal by the free shuttle. From London Farringdon, take the Circle underground line to connect to Euston Square station (C1). Head to the South exit, and take Gower St. towards South, walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). It takes from 60 to 70 minutes to get to UCL from Gatwick Airport. Airport website Interactive route (Google Maps) From Stansted Airport to UCL From Stansted Airport, make your way to the railway station, directly below the Terminal building. From there, take the Stansted Express up to Tottenham Hale station. Then, take the Victoria underground line to Euston Square station (C1). Head to the South exit, and take Gower St. towards South, walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). It takes from 60 to 90 minutes to get to UCL from Stansted Airport. Airport website Interactive route (Google Maps) From London City Airport to UCL From London City Airport, take the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) line, and stop at Bank station. Make sure the train you are about to board will actually be stopping at Bank station. From Bank station, take the Northern underground line up to Euston station (F1). Exit the station through the main gates, and make it to the right on Euston Road. Once in Euston Road (G1), head towards West to reach Euston Square station (C1), turn left in Gower St., walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). It takes from 40 to 50 minutes to get to UCL from London City Airport. Airport website Interactive route (Google Maps) From Luton Airport to UCL From Luton Airport, take the bus shuttle to connect to Luton Airport Parkway station. You can get a ticket to London St. Pancras station (bus + train) at vending machines at the bus stop. Once you connected to the railway station, you can take any train to Brighton, as they all stop at London St. Pancras station. It takes from 40 to 60 minutes to connect to London St. Pancras from Luton Airport. Use directions in the next section to reach UCL from King's Cross/St. Airport website Interactive route (Google Maps) From King's Cross/St. Pancras station to UCL If you are joining us via Eurostar, you will be arriving at London King's Cross/St. Pancras station. From Eurostar arrivals, find your way to Midland Road exit, and then turn left up to Euston Road. Once in Euston Road (G1), head towards West to reach Euston Square station (C1), turn left in Gower St., walk past UCLU Lewis's café (C2), and the main gates to UCL (C3) will be on your left, facing the Cruciform building (B3). You can also reach Euston Square through the Victoria underground line. Pancras station. It takes about 12 minutes to get to UCL from St. Pancras station. Station website Locating Gustave Tuck lecture theatre in UCL Gustave Tuck lecture theatre is located on the third floor of the South Junction of UCL (D4). Head towards the grand Wilkins Building (the one with the big dome; D3) and turn right (do not climb the stairs). There will be a door way leading into the South Cloisters building, ignore this and take the second door which will be in the far right-hand corner. Upon entering this door turn right and walk through a second set of doors keeping to the right again. There will be a staircase in front of you with signs leading to the Gustave Tuck lecture theatre.
